Do you know about “The Secrete”? You know, ‘the law of attraction’?
Of course you do. This ain’t 2015 no mo’ folks.
Still talking about it like it’s simple? “All you need to do is wave that wand, believe in abundance, and it’s yours!”
Yeah, you’re right. And it’s far more complicated than that. Climbing example.
You just got out of your car at camp four randomly driving through the valley. I walk up to you and say, “My partner died with me yesterday, so I’m looking for a new one. I’ve got their harness and shoes which should fit you good enough. Wanna climb the nose with me in a day? I’m going for the speed record with a rack of nuts from my old VW, cow bells, and legit tri cams. Sorry bro no aliens, every gram matters. Running belay the whole time, swinging leading is so 1985. You can turn your belt and shoes into aiders just fine. You look ready now, you are just say it and believe!”
Maybe you understood the jargon there, but even if so, do you believe that I’m ready? Is this goal possible? Would you advise your child or parent to take the sharp end here?
Obviously not. So hear me out for nine minutes on something that is simple, objective, and obvious; yet warrants some time to really be spelled out well- like all things of value.
