Day 4 of our “Be You” Pr***en Girls Camp was another incredible day!

We started the morning with a devotion from Tisha Fritz, who is also a Mary Kay consultant. She treated the girls to a relaxing charcoal facial mask, and while it worked its magic, she shared from chapters 5-6, reminding the girls that God calls us to take care of the bodies He has given us. It was a beautiful reminder that caring for ourselves is one way we honor Him.

Today’s theme focused on women in careers where you don’t always see women represented.

We were honored to welcome Stephanie Mayfield, owner of The Roofing Gal. Stephanie gave a powerful talk about loving yourself, embracing who God created you to be, and celebrating the unique gifts that make each of us different. She encouraged the girls to never be afraid to stand out and be themselves. She also spoiled everyone with thoughtful goodie bags!

This afternoon, we welcomed Leslie Stephens, a commercial airline pilot with United Airlines. She shared that only about 6% of airline pilots are women, making her career even more inspiring. Leslie gave the girls a glimpse into a pilot’s daily life, explained how weather plays a major role in every flight, and talked about commuting to work as a pilot. She even tested their listening skills with fun trivia for United swag prizes! The girls had a blast building wooden airplanes, competing in a flying contest, and trying on an authentic pilot’s coat and hat.

Of course, no day at Bean Acres is complete without spending time loving on the goats, donkey, and bunnies before heading home.

Day 3 of our “Be You” Girls Camp was another day full of learning, laughter, and making memories! 💕

We started our morning with Mrs. Brenda Tate with a meaningful devotion that centered around one simple question: “Why?” The girls learned that it’s okay to ask tough questions and that God isn’t afraid of our doubts. Instead, He invites us to seek Him, trust Him, and remember that even when we don’t understand everything, He has a purpose and a plan for our lives. It was a beautiful reminder that our faith grows when we continue to seek His truth.

Next, we decorated the sweetest sugar cookies with Mrs. Amber! 🍪 The girls learned how to outline their cookies with icing before filling them in, creating beautiful designs while practicing patience and creativity. They had so much fun and the cookies turned out almost too pretty to eat!

This afternoon we welcomed Laurel and Madison, veterinary technicians from Animal Care Center. They shared their own stories about being the girls’ age and trying to figure out what they wanted to be when they grew up. It was encouraging for the girls to hear that it’s okay not to have everything figured out. They also taught everyone about caring for animals, what it’s like to work in veterinary medicine, and the importance of showing compassion to God’s creatures.

We are so thankful for everyone who has poured into these girls this week. Watching them grow in confidence, faith, and friendships has been such a blessing!

Be You Camp – Day 2

We started our morning with a wonderful devotion from Michelle Hill based on Psalm 139:14, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Michelle reminded the girls that God created each of them with a purpose, that they are unique, loved, and valuable just as they are. In a world that often encourages comparison, it was a great reminder that our worth comes from God and that we are all created exactly the way He intended.

Next, we welcomed Mrs. Hannah and Miss Keely from the Moore County Extension Office. They brought fresh-picked blueberries and taught the girls how to make blueberry syrup and blueberry butter. The girls also learned about the canning process and why it is important for preserving food. Everyone went home with a jar to share with their family!

After lunch, Kristy Gallagher joined us for a fun-filled afternoon. She helped the girls make refreshing sherbet punch, which was a huge hit on this hot summer day! Then they enjoyed several creative art projects, and Kristy captured some wonderful photos along the way.

We wrapped up the day by grooming the pony and donkey, cuddling bunnies, and ending with a dance-off full of laughter and smiles. Another amazing day of learning, creativity, friendship, and fun at Be You Camp!

What a wonderful start to our “Be You”Pr***en Girls Camp!

We kicked off the morning with not one, but two Christys!

Christy Archery began our day with a beautiful devotion reminding the girls that their identity comes from God, not from what the world says about them. We talked about being chosen, loved, set apart, and called to shine as daughters of the King.

Then Christy Crownover spoiled the girls with feathers in their hair, fun braids, and lots of smiles.

This afternoon, we welcomed Bella Kile and her sweet pups. Bella, a professional dog groomer, shared the tools she uses every day, taught the girls about grooming, and wowed us with all the fun tricks her dogs could do!

It may be girls week, but that didn’t stop these girls from having a blast with archery shooting, baseball, and Gaga ball in between all the pampering and learning.

It was a day full of faith, friendship, learning, and laughter and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week holds!

Today was the last day of Farm Camp Week 2! The forecast called for thunderstorms all day, but we were blessed with only a sprinkle and were able to enjoy another wonderful day on the farm.

We had two special visitors today. First, Jacob, Carolyn, and Kathy with the Franklin County Soil Conservation District taught the kids about pollinators and their importance. The campers planted flower pots filled with pollinator seeds to help support the bees they learned about from our beekeeper earlier this week.

Next, Adley with Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods educated the kids about trees, their anatomy, and the many products we use every day that come from trees. She led several fun games and brought each child a wooden race car to decorate and race.

Since the storms stayed away, we rolled out the water slide one more time, and what better way to end the week than with a visit from the ice cream truck!

Thank you to all of our campers, families, and special guests for making Week 2 such a fun and memorable week at Bean Acres!

Today we welcomed some brand new visitors to Farm Camp, Levi Trumbore and Tyler Meroney with Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF)

They taught the kids about the anatomy of a tree, led us on a nature walk to identify different trees, and even helped us discover some wild blackberries to taste along the way! The kids also had a blast participating in a relay game with them.

After lunch, we took advantage of the sunshine and enjoyed some time on the water slide since we’re not quite sure what the weather has in store for us later this week.

Today was a full day of learning and fun at Bean Acres Farm Camp!

We started the day with beekeeper Win Phipps, who brought his bee observation hive and all of his beekeeping equipment for the kids to see up close. The campers learned about the importance of honey bees, how a hive works, and even got to help find the queen bee! It was such a neat hands-on experience.

Next, we welcomed Robbie Wilkinson and Patrick Stefanski from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department along with their K9 dogs, Karma and Marko. The kids loved learning about the important jobs these dogs do and seeing them in action.

This afternoon, Laurel and Ava from Animal Care Center visited and taught the kids about animal care and veterinary medicine. It was a great opportunity for them to learn how animals stay healthy and what it takes to care for them.

We wrapped up a wonderful day by cooling off with snow cones. Thank you to all of our special guests for making today such a fun and educational experience for our campers!

What a fun and educational day at farm camp!

We started the morning with a visit from David Lowrie with TWRA, who taught the kids about boat safety, life jacket safety, and different types of fish. He even brought along a fun fishing game that everyone enjoyed!

After lunch, the campers practiced their public speaking skills during show and tell. I always love seeing the unique treasures they bring and hearing the stories behind them. It’s a great way to help build confidence.

Next, we talked about how sometimes people need medicine to stay healthy, and animals do too. We headed to the goat barn where Mr. Darrin and my helper Holden demonstrated how we worm our goats and explained why it’s important for keeping them healthy.

To wrap up the day, we gathered fresh eggs from the chicken coop and spoiled the pony and donkey with a few treats.

Another great day of learning, growing, and making memories on the farm!

Farm Camp Family, we have a special prayer request. ❤️

We serve a big God, and we know the power of prayer.
