We are so grateful to Eagle Plume Trading for being one of our Presenting Sponsors of the First Peoples Festival!
And while we’re giving them a shout-out, we have to introduce you to one of the real stars of the shop — Astro, the shop dog. He’s friendly, adorable, and clearly takes his job as official greeter very seriously.
Thank you to Eagle Plume Trading for supporting the First Peoples Festival and helping us bring this celebration of Native culture, art, music, fashion, and community to Estes Park.
Be sure to stop by Eagle Plume Trading, say hello to Astro, and thank them for supporting the festival. We couldn’t do it without wonderful community partners like them!
🐾 MEET ASTRO — THE BEST DOG AROUND EAGLE PLUMES 🐾
Every great shop has a character who makes the place feel like home.
At Eagle Plumes, that’s Astro.
He’s our shop dog, greeter, unofficial security, and full-time supervisor. He knows the regulars, keeps an eye on the door, and is always ready to welcome a friend. And honestly, he may be the most popular member of the Eagle Plumes crew.
There’s a deeper history behind dogs like Astro, too.
Across generations, dogs have held an important place in many Native communities. They have served as companions, protectors, hunting partners, and working animals. On reservations today, the term “rez dog” can describe the free-roaming dogs who are part of everyday community life—dogs who may belong to one family, several families, or simply seem to belong to everyone.
They’re part of the landscape, part of the community, and often part of the stories people remember.
Astro has his own little territory right here at Eagle Plumes.
He may not be guarding a traditional camp or pulling a travois, but he takes his responsibilities seriously:
Greet everyone.
Supervise the humans.
Accept compliments.
Protect the shop.
Repeat.
Come by Eagle Plumes and say hello to Astro—the best rez dog around.
