The Truth They’re Trying to Bury at Zorro Ranch
For years, New Mexicans — especially those of us in rural and underserved communities — have carried truths that institutions refused to hear. We have lived with the consequences of political indifference, strategic silence, and systems designed to protect power rather than people.
This essay is not about relitigating the past. It is about naming the patterns that allowed harm to flourish, the structures that kept it hidden, and the rural erasure that made it possible.
It is also about reclaiming the narrative from those who have tried to manage it.
