Various excerpts from Gathering Up Again: Fiesta in Santa Fe (1992)—

This film examines the Santa Fe Fiesta, America's oldest continuous community celebration, which commemorates the Spaniards' "bloodless reconquest" of the Pueblo Indians in New Mexico in 1692.
Focusing on three young people representing each of the city's principal ethnic groups--Native Americans, Hispanics, and Anglo-Americans-the video shows the formation of ethnic identities, the ongoing impact of the cultures of conquest on Native Americans in the region, and the development of sanitized versions of U.S. history.

It was a pretty great crazy busy week…
last fire early in the week, K’haP’o Feast celebrating St Claire of Assisi, family lunches, visits, tours, & panel presentations regarding Tewa Nangeh-Tewa Country, navigating jurying submission, Studio visits, many spectacular visits & conversations at the booth, and beautiful sunsets.
