Join artist Maryam Bayat for a hands-on workshop exploring decoupage and surface design through the transformation of recycled glass wine bottles into decorative objects. Drawing inspiration from the Persian-inspired motifs and materials featured in Maryam Bayat: Unrolling Paradise, participants will work with patterned papers, layering techniques, and decorative applications to create their own finished piece.

Today, we had an amazing workshop exploring the Cypress, a symbol of resilience in Persian culture.
With our wonderful artist, Maryam Bayat, participants painted pre-cut cypress trees, sanded, sewed, and filled them to create small cypress sculptures, all inspired by the exhibition Unrolling Paradise.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this workshop such a special experience.

If you go to Trader Joe’s, please take one of this month’s flyers; it’s full of artwork from museums, with some funny notes.

And look at this on the second page of the flyer: “This man whose only happiness comes from Trader Joe’s teeny tiny pies.”

The original artwork is called a portrait of a statesman, by Yahya Ghaffari, dated 1294, and now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Are you ready for another exciting workshop?

Join artist Maryam Bayat for a hands-on painting workshop inspired by the Cypress tree, a recurring symbol in Persian art, poetry, and garden design.
Participants will paint on pre-cut Cypress tree forms using acrylic paint and surface treatments drawn from the motifs and visual language of Maryam Bayat: Unrolling Paradise.
Bayat will guide participants through painting techniques and sanding processes that create layered textures and a weathered finish. Along the way, participants will learn more about the cultural significance of the Cypress tree and its presence within Persian visual traditions.

Back in March, during Nowruz, our hearts were with the mothers who lost their beloved children in the January massacre.

Lucia, our amazing partner, shared a beautiful whirling dance, and her team moved with such grace and grief in every step. It was more than a performance, it was remembrance and love.
