Established in 2001, has always been a place of music discovery, love, reunion, and community. Every single ticket purchase supports our parent nonprofit, the Birthplace of Country Music, which allows us to give back to our community through educational outreach to local youth, offer free and low cost programming through the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, and support regional and up-and-coming artists through WBCM - Radio Bristol

We could be issuing similar numbers, or at least higher numbers, if the powers that be in Erwin just let the entrepreneurs do their thing and got out of the way. May they walk the walk not just talk the talk on the subject of business friendly environment. Let’s hope they adopt this philosophy because when they do Erwin will return to that bustling little town. And btw in the end the entrepreneur is going to win out because progress almost always wins out. And the people get the products and services they want because small business owners rarely give up. They just constantly keep trying to satisfy their customers needs. Have a great day!

63 permits issued by City Planning office for February

The City of Elizabethton Planning Office had a busy month of February in which 63 permits were issued by the department totaling $692,286.44.

Hello Erwin. We at the Erwin Capitol Theatre would like to personally invite you all to a Community Involvement Event at the Union Street Taproom in Erwin TN on April 11th at 6:00 PM. We will be serving complimentary drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and three great live musical artists that are from Erwin TN. Come out and meet up with friends, hang out and hear Ryder Casey along with Mikaela Langley and Jeremy Henneesse, and talk about life and the bright future of Erwin Tennessee. Michael Baker has been the biggest supporter of the Capitol from day one. And as a Realtor he represented the seller of the Capitol. Vote for Michael for Erwin mayor if you are interested in insuring the most friendly business environment for the Capitol in the future. Saying that one is business friendly and actually being business friendly are two completely different things. Michael Baker is the real deal. He puts the time and effort in his full as alderman and he will do the same as mayor. The Capitol will benefit as a result. And it’s a great building with a bright future. It won’t be lost to time or be torn down like so many theaters in the US that have been. It’s an important part of the community that should and will be returned to service. Thank you to the Johnson City Press for a great story about the Capitol!

After purchasing the Capitol Theatre in Erwin in 2021, the new owners are ready to start making repairs to the roof, which was heavily damaged by snow in December 2018 and caused the theater to close.

Thank You Ken Silvers for sharing this article that appeared in the Erwin record in 1959. It thanks the residents of Erwin Tennessee as the Capitol Theatre saw record attendance that year. It also gives a sneak peek of the movies to come in 1960 including G.I. Blues with Elvis Presley. Pretty neat!
