Recycle reclaim. This was a jewelry display box I found at the thrift store. I gutted it of its necklace and ring holders, replaced the print under the glass, lined the interior back and sides with a suede mat, and made glass shelves held up with shelf supports made from a beaded fillet. Top it off with replacing the glazing with Museum glass, and my friends try to touch the objects because the glass is that invisible. A couple of hours work and an heirloom display is created.

FRAMING ANNOUNCEMENT...
You may have heard that I recently retired from Erie Insurance Heritage Center/Archives. This is true. However, I am not fully retiring. I have a picture framing and fine art handling studio from which I will be offering services to the region. As some of you may already know, I was the Master Framer at the Erie Art Museum for 22 years prior to spending 10+ years helping Erie Insurance design, build, and operate a museum for their archives, The Erie Insurance Heritage Center. It's time for me to move on to the next stage in my life, which perhaps includes doing some projects for you. I'm spending most of January getting things in order at the studio. I will begin looking for projects in February. Please feel free to contact me if you have something that you would like me to take a look at with you and help you decide what we might want to do to display it. I use only museum quality materials and preservation methods in framing, so you may rest assured that your piece will be treated with loving care.
If you have already contacted me about a project, please do so again now. If you haven't yet contacted me, please wait until February, or just shoot me an email or text saying you would like to talk to me in February. Contact info on the card... I'm happy to respond, and I am really looking forward to seeing what personal treasures you might have!
Your friendly framer,
Joe Popp

Delivered this archival framed 38 star flag to a client today. Stitch mounted to rag mat using the finest hair silk thread. What a beautiful object. This Flag became the Official United States Flag on July 4th, 1877. A star was added for the admission of Colorado (August 1st 1876) and was to last for 13 years.
