📦 The final countdown! 📦

We’re getting the last of our things out of That Play Place this weekend, so if you reserved an item, now’s the time to come claim it!

Still hoping to snag a little piece of TPP? You’re welcome to stop by and see what’s left, but we’re officially down to the odds and ends, a few forgotten treasures, and our Vet Centers.

✨ That’s a wrap, friends. ✨

Today was our very last Open Play at That Play Place, and honestly, it was a wonderful way to end this chapter. Thank you to everyone who came out, played, hugged us, shared memories, and helped make today so special.

This week has been emotional, exhausting, and full of surprises (including discovering an entire stash of toys and TVs that apparently I forgot we had 🤦‍♀️), so we’re still sorting through everything.

If you claimed items from the sale, you can stop by Monday between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM-ish or Tuesday 12-6pmish to pick them up. I’ll be there working on tearing things down and getting everything wrapped up.

As for the newly rediscovered treasures… stay tuned. We’ll figure out what we’re doing with those and post updates soon!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for letting us be part of your families’ memories. Watching your little ones play, celebrate birthdays, make friends, and grow up here has been an incredible privilege.

For now, we’re closing the doors one last time with very full hearts. ❤️

🏆 Employee of the Month 🏆

After years of operation, countless open play sessions, parties, events, cleaning shifts, snack refills, and helping hands, we’re finally announcing our Employee of the Month.

And fittingly, she’s both our first and our last.

Congratulations, Miss Kathie. ❤️

While “Employee of the Month” has always been a running joke around here, there truly isn’t anyone more deserving. Not only did she help make That Play Place possible, but she has been there every step of the way—supporting, encouraging, problem-solving, cleaning, organizing, helping families, and loving this community right alongside us.

Long before That Play Place existed, she was teaching me what it meant to show up for people. I grew up wanting to be a helper, an advocate, and a source of support because I watched her make those things a priority every single day. As a single mother of four and the best social worker I know, she dedicated her life to helping others, and made it look cool.

Fun fact, she has been lucky enough to see some of “her kids,” come through here as adults with their own littles! Those are some of my favorite Miss Kathie recaps- that lady has a list of kids she carries in her heart and I love that she got to confirm some are living their best lives.

There are a million ways she made this adventure possible, and not nearly enough room to list them all.

Thank you for helping me become brave enough to chase side quests, dream big, and build things that bring people together. Thank you for believing in me when things felt impossible. And thank you for being willing to get dragged into every new adventure I come up with.

We are so lucky to have you.

As a reminder, Open Play continues Wednesday–Sunday from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM through June 20th.

Our final two Friday Evening Play sessions will be:
⭐ Friday, June 12th | 5:00–7:00 PM
⭐ Friday, June 29th | 5:00–7:00 PM

We’ll be closed for Father’s Day, and June 20th will be our final day for Open Play.

Hey friends! First, and most importantly, I want to thank everyone for the kind words. The comments, messages, in person well wishes; it means the world. You’re amazing, this has been an amazing adventure, and we will miss you.
Second, I’m realizing closing a business has more legwork than I anticipated. I am responding to everyone as I can, and I will have an updated list of what’s still up for grabs tomorrow or Monday. I appreciate the understanding as I improvise my way through the next couple weeks!

After much thought and many conversations, we wanted to share that That Play Place will be closing its doors.

We had hoped to be able to give our families more notice. Unfortunately, some decisions and processes involved more moving parts and took longer than we expected. While the timing isn’t what we hoped for, we wanted to let you know as soon as we were able.

Our last day of Open Play will be Sunday, June 20th.

To every family who walked through our doors, celebrated birthdays with us, met friends here, laughed, played, supported us, and trusted us with a small part of your family’s story—thank you. We are incredibly proud of what we built together and so grateful for the community that grew around it.

While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we’re also excited to see what comes next and to carry all of these wonderful memories with us.

As we prepare to close, we will be selling much of our inventory and equipment. This includes toys, tables, chairs, storage items, and more. (My house already has far too many toys!) If there’s something you’ve had your eye on, please send us a message and we’ll be happy to let you know if it’s available.

Thank you for making That Play Place such a special place. We hope you’ll stop in and play with us one last time before we close.

We hope everyone had a fun holiday weekend! Backyard days, playground trips, cookouts… and apparently… tick season officially reporting for duty. 🫠

Friendly parent reminder from someone who just had one pulled off their kid at school: do your tick checks, friends. Hi, summer. 😅

As for us — this is your reminder that THIS WEEK is our last week before summer hours begin!

As we head into summer, we wanted to give everyone a heads up on a few changes:

• We’ll be closed Mondays & Tuesdays
• Open play hours will run until 2PM instead of 3PM

And… our summer memberships are in the works! We’ll be finalizing everything this week and getting details posted soon, so stay tuned! 🎉

Real life has been real life-ing over here lately between funerals, birthdays, and all the things, so I’ll be honest—I dropped the ball a little on planning extra events for the start of May. Sometimes the behind-the-scenes chaos wins for a minute, and that’s okay.

I’m also wanting to do a fun giveaway soon, but I haven’t landed on the right one yet. Keep an eye out this week—and if you have giveaway ideas, send them my way! 🎉
