Filmmaker Feature: Sean Martin 🎬

Meet Sean Martin - a Pennsylvania-based filmmaker whose love for cinema started at just 4 years old and has continued to shape every step of his creative journey.

A recent Penn State Behrend graduate, Sean has spent years immersed in storytelling through filmmaking, writing, student-led film organizations, international film programming, commercial production work, and now, his first major directorial project: The Golden Age.

Currently in post-production, The Golden Age follows fictional silent film star Jack Valentine as he struggles to survive Hollywood’s transition from silent films to talking pictures in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Inspired by classic cinema and filmmakers like Damien Chazelle, the project reflects Sean’s deep appreciation for the history and emotion of filmmaking.

Sean describes himself as someone with “one foot in fantasy and one in reality” - a perspective reflected throughout his creative work both on and off screen. When he’s not behind the camera or editing a project, you’ll probably find him in a bookstore or at the theater revisiting favorites like Casablanca, City Lights, and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.

We’re excited to spotlight another passionate emerging filmmaker in Erie’s growing film community. 🎞️

Wouldn’t your film look great here? 🎢🎡🌊

This is Waldameer Park & Water World - a classic lakeside amusement park nestled along the shores of Presque Isle State Park. A staple of Erie summers, it blends nostalgic charm with high-energy attractions, all set against the backdrop of Lake Erie.

Founded in 1896, Waldameer is one of the oldest continuously operating amusement parks in the country. It is currently the 6th oldest continuously operating amusement park in the United States and the 4th oldest in the State of Pennsylvania. From the iconic Ravine Flyer II to the scenic Sky Ride, the park offers a mix of thrills, movement, and atmosphere that feels both timeless and alive.

Scenes like this - the motion of rides overhead, flashes of color and light, and glimpses of the lake just beyond the treetops - create a dynamic, cinematic setting. There’s an energy here that’s hard to replicate, where joy, nostalgia, and summer excitement all collide in one place.

From vibrant action sequences to coming-of-age moments filled with warmth and memory, locations like Waldameer add character, movement, and visual interest to any story.
