Film Erie is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit film office serving Northwest Pennsylvania. Supporters of all things film.

We connect film workers, visiting productions, and film lovers while supporting production, workforce development, and community programs. 🎬 Film Erie is the official hub for all things film in Northwest Pennsylvania. We’re a cultural nonprofit and regional film office championing local storytelling, independent cinema, and creative workforce development across Erie and beyond. As the new home of the Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania and the Greater Erie Film Office, we connect filmmakers, locations, crew, and audiences to grow a thriving film scene rooted in our region’s unique character.

We love seeing Erie on camera.

There’s something exciting about watching a film project come together right here in our own backyard. The people behind the camera are just as important as what ends up on screen, and Erie and NWPA are home to so many talented people making that work happen.

Our region has incredible locations, a growing creative community, and plenty of stories worth telling. And more filmmakers are finding opportunities to bring those stories to life here.

The local film and media industries are growing, and with that comes more opportunities for filmmakers, actors, crew members, artists, and creatives throughout the region.

We’re excited to see where it goes and to keep watching Erie make its way onto the screen.

Mead Township, Pennsylvania offers filmmakers a mix of forested landscapes, mountain views, and the natural beauty of the Allegheny Reservoir, all within the Allegheny National Forest.

This scenic overlook gives you a view that feels especially cinematic in the fall, when the surrounding forests come alive with color and the Allegheny Reservoir stretches out below. It’s just one example of the incredible natural scenery found throughout Mead Township and the surrounding area.

With miles of forest, waterways, and expansive views, Mead Township offers plenty of possibilities for productions looking for a beautiful natural backdrop. From a quiet landscape shot to a scene that calls for the feeling of being surrounded by the outdoors, there’s a lot to work with here.

Film Erie Directory Spotlight: Jordan DeLauer

“Hi, I’m Jordan DeLauer!

I was born in Arizona but I’ve called Erie my home for the last decade! I’m a photographer with a strong passion for my community here in Erie!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with a handful of filmmakers as a behind-the-scenes photographer on many projects ranging from small, 3 people, teams to full production teams!

Most of the time you’ll find me out and about outdoors taking photos of nature or in your favorite local coffee shop editing my work. I also love rock climbing both indoors and outdoors! My work in nature photography, specifically wildlife, demands absolute patience and precision which translates well in the often high stress environment of a film production! As a nature photographer, I take pride in knowing what makes Erie’s nature unique and beautiful!

Despite spending much of my time secluded in nature, I love being around people. Much of my pleasure as a photographer comes from the joy of sharing my work with others! I love talking with people about the stories behind my photos and the whys behind my work. My love for working with others finds me frequently working on portraits and events like weddings and, of course, film productions!

Film is ALIVE this October at 1020 Collective with the FILM 10|20 fall series. This October has a new lineup of films, including work from local filmmakers.

Here’s what’s on the screen this month:

Wednesday, October 14 : Reel Rituals Presents: Teenage S*x and Death at Camp Miasma

Wednesday, October 28: Late Night at the Movies (Local Film) + Spooky Open Screen Happy Hour

Friday, October 23: Reel Rituals Presents: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Tickets can be purchased at 1020collective.com - The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been sold out, but a select number of tickets will be up for grabs mid-October. Keep your eye out on social media for an announcement for a chance to snag last minute tickets!

General Admission $10 | $20 Admission + Unlimited Popcorn | Snacks & Drinks available art the bar/café

On October 28th at 5pm, the screen will be open for filmmakers to bring their work and share it with the community! Open Screen Happy Hour takes place once a month during FILM 10|20 film screenings.

Film Erie Directory Spotlight: Jacob Ames

“My name is Jacob Ames, and I’m a filmmaker and actor with 10+ years of experience bringing visions to life on the screen.

Inspired by my fascination with Leonardo da Vinci and his seemingly endless range of disciplines, I approach filmmaking with the mindset of a Renaissance man. I see film as a medium where all of my interests can come together: Director, Cinematographer, Actor, Stuntman, Set & Prop Designer, Historian, Graphic Designer, Animator, and whatever else peaks my interest.

I’ve had the honor of capturing the attention of millions online, as well as acting in local films including Oddity Productions’ 1880’s bare-knuckle film, “Alexander the Brain,” and 1970’s frat film, “House of Eden.” As well as several student films.

In 2019, I founded Anomaly Studios with that same philosophy: to bring together diverse skills, perspectives, and passions to boldly reinvent the familiar. Since then, Anomaly has helped businesses and professional athletes bring their visions to life and reach audiences around the world.

This Friday, September 25, Danza con Diablos will be screened at Gannon University.

The new documentary by filmmaker Luis Carlos García explores the living devil dance traditions of Panama - traditions rooted in music, dance, elaborate costumes, history, faith, artistry, resilience, and cultural identity.

The evening will include a full screening of the film, a talk with Luis about the creative journey behind the project and the process of documenting living cultural traditions, followed by a moderated interdisciplinary discussion with Executive Producer Monica Graves García.
