When fighting began, Henry Dearborn of Nottingham NH, organized, trained and led a group of 60+ local men (Dearborn’s Company) off to battle in the Revolutionary War. As a Captain, Dearborn led the group of militia men to Boston, the Battle of Bunker Hill, following the orders of Colonel John Stark’s First New Hampshire Regiment. Henry Dearborn’s’ Company is all about life during the18th Century,
with historic representations of America's colonial past. We demonstrate colonial times for private events, school programs, local organizations and museum activities. We can be seen from the New Hampshire Seacoast to New York, Vermont and the Canadian border. Dearborn’s Company welcomes families, singles, children and groups. Over the years we have had over a hundred members who range in ages from 2 to 92. It's the perfect family hobby for learning about our country’s history. Our members pursue many activities from the colonial times: camping, spinning, medicine/surgeon, leatherwork, artillery, cooking, music, homemaking, clothing, flags & hair n make-up and many more. Musicians are welcome for battles, parades, and the enjoyment of the company. We often attend rendezvous as local as southeast New Hampshire or as far away as Pennsylvania. Some event are just for the day where others for a week. We are always looking for new members to join. It is a great activity for youngsters and parents. You do not have to commit to lots of time. If you can fit us into your schedule just once a year, that works for us. If you enjoy spending time outside, learning about history, making new friends and spending time with family come to one of our events. We would love to have you as our guest. If you have a child who is interested in having our group come to their school for the day with our demonstrations of colonial life, we would be very happy to hear from you. Learn open hearth cookery or colonial crafts, like a corn husk doll or orange pomander. Your participation is important to our future of recreating the past. Please consider joining us back in the 18th Century for some fun.
