“Harbinger of the new sun” oil and goldleaf on cradled panel 24X36 is this weeks auction, and probably the last auction that I can guarantee being delivered by Christmas. I wanted to do something deer to my heart (sorry, I couldn’t resist) and so I decided to focus on reindeer/Caribou and the aurora borealis. I often talk about and lament the coming extinction of the lower Woodlands Caribou, and so I really felt the desire to paint some thing with them in it. I also felt like it would be fun to do something seasonally appropriate, as we head towards the winter solstice, and all the traditions that surround it. This weeks auction begins at 9 PM this evening and it will run until 9 PM next Sunday night December 13th. The starting bid will be $200, you can leave your bid in the comments section, and the bidding well and next Sunday night at 9 PM. Thank you so much for everything you guys have done! It has been such a joy to be able to share art with you, and since I have the ability to do so I like to draw attention to certain things, and I feel like the observation of nature, and her health and well-being are near and dear to your heart, as it is to mine, and I think long-overdue of our attention. I also feel like, especially after this year, being able to look up and see something majestic like the northern lights, I need that, I think everybody does, so I imagine him navigating with the herd underneath the northern lights, listening to an ancient voice, a forgotten voice, that is nature, singing a song and telling the story that came before words, and will be here long after.
