If your character (or role) had a playlist, what song has to be on it?

“Stay Young, Go Dancing" by Death Cab for Cutie. There is a lyric in it that says “Cause when she sings, I hear a symphony, and I’m swallowed in sound. As it echoes through me, I’m renewed”. I feel like that is exactly how Dev feels about Mash and her music.

What’s been the funniest moment in SFB so far? "Cindy as Emma. Everything she does is hysterical. The character is despicable but I love how she delivers every line, beat, and action. You can’t help but laugh."

🎭 Meet Mason Beiter, who plays Conrad in Stupid F # Bird.

Conrad is a young artist searching for meaning, love, and validation — and struggling with what it means to create something that matters.

✨ How would you describe yourself in three words? "Charismatic, Passionate, and Flexibility (figuratively, not literally)"

✨What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you? "My real name is not Mason (whaaaaat!?)"

🎭 Why do you think audiences should come see this show? "There’s a lot of meta humor, swearing, and fun bits but at the core of its show the play has meaningful yet flawed relationships. We all have our own battles and inner-demons we’re facing. Everyone does a fantastic job at displaying that and every actor has moments to shine."

🐦 What drew you to Stupid F*ing Bird? "A few things. First, the script. It’s unique and uses so much meta-theatre that you normally don’t see on stage. I’ve only ever read the script and been itching to see it live. Second, combining that with DTC’s superlative track record of performances like Other Desert Cities and Describe the Night. Every character is fleshed out and there’s many discoveries. "

🐦 If you had to describe the show to a friend in one sentence, what would you say? Real f**king characters with real f**king emotions and f**king relationships.

🎭 Meet Kathryn “Katie” Shappert, who plays Nina in Stupid F*ing Bird.
Nina dreams fiercely, loves deeply, and believes in art even when it hurts — making her one of the emotional hearts of the play.

🎭 How do you personally connect to this play or your role? “Oh, Nina… She makes some terrible choices without understanding the complicated power structures at play in her life. I think she’s a character that anyone who has ever been young and shortsighted can empathize with.”

❤️ What’s been the funniest moment in rehearsal so far? “Oh my goodness, there are too many to count. More recently, a curiously-shaped balloon animal stood in for a stuffed seagull, and chaos ensued. Utter scene collapse, but in the best way possible.”

🐦What does Katie love about this experience? “ The cast and production team! It’s such a privilege to work alongside such talented, kind, dedicated people.”

🐦What is one moment of SFB that sticks with you? (No spoilers, please!): My final scene is a doozy. Holy cowsie-dotes, indeed.
