Opera House Players

Opera House Players is a nonprofit community theater group based in Enfield CT. We always make sure there is something for everyone.

The Opera House Players is a nonprofit volunteer-based community theater group based out of the Thompsonville section of Enfield, CT. Founded in 1968 (originally St Martha Players) we are one of the oldest performance groups in the area. We perform four shows a season, with a variety ranging from comedy to drama, contemporary to classic, as well as multiple fundraisers a year.

Avenue Q auditions! 🎊 Join us on Monday, June 29 or Tuesday, June 30, at 6:30pm at the Enfield Annex, 124 North Maple St, Enfield, CT. Callbacks are by invite only on Tuesday, July 7. Not everyone considered will require a callback. Visit operahouseplayers.org/audition for details. 🎭

Performance dates: November 6-22, 2026

Performers should be at least 18 years old by August 15, 2026 (some exceptions may be made with parental permission depending on the role).

This laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad who moves into a shabby New York apartment out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Filled with humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a unique show that has become a favorite for (mature) audiences everywhere.

Do you love the arts, community engagement, organization, and bringing big ideas to life? We are looking for a motivated and collaborative individual to join our Board of Directors in an At-Large Board Position! 🎊🎭

We’re seeking someone with experience in:
• Project Management
• Event Coordination
• Administrative Organization
• Community & Donor Relations

This voting board position will work closely with leadership on both current initiatives and long-term organizational planning. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, communicative, dependable, and passionate about supporting the arts in our community. 💙

Responsibilities may include:
• Managing project timelines and coordination
• Assisting with fundraising and special events
• Building relationships with vendors, sponsors, and community partners
• Supporting board communications and organizational operations

Monthly meetings are expected (in-person preferred; remote attendance acceptable).

Update: All time slots have been filled! We’ll have another headshot fundraiser in the fall.

Are you in need of a new professional headshot? Would you like to take family or couple photos? 📸 Join us on the Suffield CT Town Common Saturday, June 13 from 9:00-11:00 am! Individual and couple time slots are about 10 minutes each and you will be sent 5 edited photos. Family photo shoots are 15 minutes and you will be sent 10 edited photos.

Sign up in advance by emailing Julie at [email protected]. Please let her know if this is an individual, couple, or family photo shoot, your preferred time slot between 9:00-11:00 am, and your phone number. Time slots are limited so don’t miss out! 💙

Pay what you can. The suggested donation is $30 for individual photos and $50 for family photos. Venmo payments are preferred , but we also accept cash and check. All proceeds go to Opera House Players. 🎭 Photos will be taken and edited by Sarah Stephens.

It started out like a song…🎶 Congratulations to our cast, crew, and production team for putting on a wonderful production of Merrily We Roll Along! 🎉 This is an important story about friendship, the passage of time, and the price of success, and you approached the meaningful story and complex music with care and dedication. Your talents made this show truly special! 🎭

Thank you to our patrons who came out to see Merrily! 💗 Your support is deeply appreciated and is necessary for our success as a volunteer-led theater. This show isn’t performed often by local community theaters and we’re grateful we were able to bring it to you. It has local super-fans now! 👏 Thank you for appreciating our hard work and commitment to bringing the arts to this region.
