We are so proud of Drew Villaca! ESU Alum are doing wonderful things in the music community!

🎉 Congratulations to our 2026 Prelude Award Winner, Drew Villaca! 🎶🏆

Drew is the vocal music teacher at Mill Creek Middle School in Lenexa, Kansas, where he teaches 6–8th grade choir and serves as head director of the musical theatre program. 🎭

A Baldwin City native, Drew earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Emporia State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education at the University of Kansas. His leadership and service have included serving as ESU A Ca****la Choir President, Kansas Collegiate NAfME State President, and a member of the KCDA Middle Level Treble Honor Choir Committee.

The Prelude Award recognizes an emerging Kansas choral educator who demonstrates:

✨ Excellence in teaching and performance
🤝 Professionalism and collegiality
🌟 Potential for an exemplary career in choral music
💙 A strong spirit of service to KCDA and/or KMEA
