Don't let the rain drown out the fun! Join the GreenMan Storytellers as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Route 66 with "Route 66 and Road Trip Stories"

GreenMan Theatre Storytellers will mark the iconic event with performances at two local libraries and at St. Peters UCC in Elmhurst. The fascinating story of Route 66’s history and impact on American life will be performed at the following times and places:

“Route 66 has been such an important part of America’s history,” said Director Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff. “It has been exciting to do research and find images for this program which will be presented by a fabulous group of performers.”

Performers for the storytelling events will be Cassy Beach, Marilyn Connolly, Tom Kaiser, Steven Soria and Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff. In addition, Steven Soria will curate popular songs relating to Route 66 for pre- and post-show music. Tony Lopez will arrange the accompanying slide show, and Becca Easley will provide technical assistance.

Among the highlights of this show, we will tell how Bobby and Cynthia Troup came up with the tune “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” about their road trip from Pennsylvania to California. Another story will relate the memories of local storyteller Marie Ringenberg about the fun she and her family had at a Route 66 drive-in movie theater in St. Louis.

Friday, July 31, 7:30pm and Sunday, August 2, 2:00pm
St. Peter's UCC - Friday, July 31st at 7:30p.m., and on Sunday, August 2nd as a 2:00 p.m. matinée at St. Peter's UCC, 125 W Church St. Elmhurst, IL 60126. Note: the entrance to the parking lot is on Cottage Hill Road, not Church Street. Please use the north entrance (the side towards the railroad tracks). The performance will be on the second floor, reachable by elevator or stairs.
