DuPage Dance Academy Dance studio located in Elmhurst, IL offering classes in ballet, pointe, jazz/contemporary, tap, and pre-ballet to ages 4-adult.

Providing high level, age-appropriate, and positive dance instruction for over 40 years. Exolore the ART of dance with us! DuPage Dance Academy was established over 30 years ago in Elmhurst, Illinois. Our qualified and experienced instructors have taught the art of dance in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap and pre-ballet to students ranging from four years old to adults. Our resident dance company, “Elmhurst Dance Theatre”, provides performing opportunities for intermediate and advanced level students, including our very popular annual “Nutcracker Highlights”, as well as performances with the Elmhurst Symphony and Chicago Dance Slam. We are quite proud to have many students receive college dance scholarships and move on to professional careers in dance and dance education.

And finally… spotlight on our intermediate and advanced ballet levels. These dancers are invited to join our performing company Elmhurst Dance Theatre. Progress continues in technique, conditioning, and pointe work, as well as adding variations and partnering to their class work. Emphasis on developing individual artistry becomes a central theme. We are so proud of all the hard work these dancers have put in over the years. The joy of dance is the reward!

Spot light on our Jr. 1 and Jr. 2 ballet levels. Students in these levels continue to progress in their technique and ballet vocabulary through an increasingly challenging syllabus with a strong emphasis on strength and alignment. They also have more opportunities to perform including in our annual Nutcracker performances. In Jr 2, students increase to two ballet classes per week and begin pre-pointe work. They progress to going en pointe as they are ready.

These levels lay some of the most important groundwork for a dancer’s training!

Spotlight on jazz and tap classes! We offer jazz/contemporary and tap classes beginning with Jr 1 level on Thursdays, progressing through Jr 2 on Fridays, into intermediate/advanced on Thursday evenings. We also offer adult beg/cont level jazz and tap classes on Mondays. We believe dancers should be well rounded and encourage our students to explore different styles of dance especially if they are preparing for a career in dance performance or education.

Jazz classes include conditioning and stretching and jazz technique including progressions, jumps, turns, and choreography. Students also learn contemporary and modern technique and combinations so they are equipped to be well versed in many styles.

Tap classes include technique, choreography, and training across several styles including rhythym,hoofing, clogging, swing, and musical theater.

All Jazz and tap students are invited to perform in our year end dance concert. Please enjoy these photos from our Jazz and tap students in their recent performance in May entitled “A Country Day.”

Spotlight on children’s Beginning Ballet level. Starting at age 7, students can enter beginning ballet. This class is a traditional ballet class beginning with barre work and moving to the center. The students learn vocabulary, positions, ballet steps, and develop technique and alignment skills they will carry with them through the levels. This is a fundamental class in their training that lays the groundwork for future classes. They work on stretch and strength and have two opportunities to perform! They finally can join our Nutcracker cast and always steal the show as mice, and also perform in our year end dance concert.

There are two different times to choose from in our schedule for children’s Beginning ballet:
Mondays from 4-5pm
Fridays from 6-7pm
(Teens and adults enter Beginning ballet in the adult track at 7:30pm on Tuesdays)

Spotlight on Pre-Dance and Pre-Ballet! These classes for 4-6year olds are a great place to begin your dance journey. Students learn dance fundamentals, musicality, strength and stretch skills, positions, steps, and vocabulary in a playful and fun environment. They explore creativity and improvisation with different themes each week and have the opportunity to perform in our end of year dance concert in May.
Our schedule:
4yr old class Wednesdays from 3:45-4:30
5/6yr class is Tuesdays from 4:15-5:00

Registration for our Fall session is upon us and we are so excited to embark on a new year! Classes begin August 17th. DuPage Dance Academy has been offering high level, age appropriate, and positive dance education to children and adults for over 40 years in downtown Elmhurst. We offer Pre-ballet, ballet, pointe and variations, jazz, contemporary, and tap classes.

We will be taking time this week to look back at the amazing year we just completed, and look forward to some wonderful class offerings for the new year. Stay tuned!

Online registration is open, and in-person registration is this week Aug 11 and 12 from 3-6pm. You can see the studio, register, pay tuition and purchase dance wear. Dupagedanceacademy.com
