ALL THE WORLD'S FAIR
TONIGHT! Saturday, May 30th, 7:30PM
Baker Auditorium, York High School

Come see this FREE Musical Reading by 1950's York Alum Frederick Schmidt! Tonight's show will run about one hour. With performances by York Drama alumni and friends, music arrangements by 2 current students, it's a multi-generational collaboration of Dukes!

Set during Chicago’s legendary World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, All the World’s Fair unfolds on the front porch and yard of a modest Chicago home just off the famous Midway Plaisance, where the first-ever Ferris Wheel towered over fairgoers from around the world. The musical follows Pa, his daughter Eileen, and Tim, a young farm boy from downstate. Warmly comic and genuinely romantic, the show weaves together an ensemble of policemen, hucksters, a seasick ship captain, and a trio of poker-playing “cousins” — all set against the spectacle and energy of one of the most celebrated events in American history.

Come see some talented York Drama alumni and friends perform in a World Premiere Musical reading written and composed by a 1950s York alum, Frederick Schmidt with musical arrangements by 2 current students.

Set during Chicago’s legendary World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, All the World’s Fair unfolds at a modest Chicago home just off the Midway Plaisance, where the first-ever Ferris Wheel towered over fairgoers from around the world. The musical follows Pa, a retired Irish immigrant police sergeant and his daughter Eileen, who rents a spare room to Fair visitors and teaches waltz lessons. Into their small, ordered world steps Tim, a young farm boy selling music boxes on the street. Warmly comic and genuinely romantic, the show weaves together an ensemble of policemen, hucksters, a seasick ship captain, and a trio of poker-playing “cousins” — all set against the spectacle and energy of one of the most celebrated events in American history.

Kick off the weekend ahead with MISCAST, presented by the York Drama Boosters this Friday, May 15th at 7:30PM in the York Auditorium! Get your tickets online before the show at yorkdrama.org. $5 York students/$10 general admission or $10 tickets at the door.

MISCAST is a concert of selected students celebrating all forms of musical theatre, even the roles they may never get themselves. Come see standards like Newsies or Falsettos, as well as new contemporary favorites like Wicked and The Last Five Years, or even York classics from years past like The Clockmaker's Daughter!
