Okay… I guess it’s time to try to get back to somewhat normal business posts. 😂❤️
I’ll admit, it feels a little strange posting a regular business update after everything that has happened this week. After the CBS Sunday Morning story, the GoFundMe, and the absolutely unbelievable amount of support that has come from people all across the country, it definitely feels like there are a lot more eyes on this little bowling alley right now.
So I figured I’d start with what I think needs to be my first step: adding another person to our team.
And more specifically… I desperately need a cook.
Since the story aired, we’ve had so many people come through the doors who have driven from near and far, and quite a few of you have come in hoping to meet me or say hello. I cannot explain how much that means to me.
The unfortunate part is… a lot of the time, I’m in the kitchen.
Our previous cook moved away, and until I find someone else, that job falls on me.
I’ve been told my food is pretty good, and I’m choosing to believe everyone. 😂 But the kitchen is definitely NOT where my heart is.
I cook because bowling, food and a cold beer just belong together, and I never want to take that away from the experience here. If keeping the kitchen open means I have to put on an apron and make pizzas, burgers and fries all night, then that’s what I’m going to do.
But it does mean sacrificing a lot of the things I actually need—and love—to be doing.
I love being at the front desk. I love talking to customers. I love showing people around, answering questions about these crazy old machines, hearing your stories, and actually getting to meet the people who have supported this place.
And most importantly… I need to be able to fix the bowling lanes. 😂
When something goes wrong with a machine while I’m cooking, I can’t exactly abandon someone’s food, run out covered in kitchen mess, crawl into a 77-year-old pinsetter, and then come back and start handling food again. 😂
So until I find the right person, unfortunately I’m going to be spending a lot more time in the kitchen than I would like.
That brings me to this:
Ellsworth Candlepin Alley is hiring! 🎳
I’m looking for someone who can eventually be trained in all of our positions, but the primary position I need filled right now is in the kitchen.
I’m looking for somebody dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working when things get busy, and who wants to become part of our little team.
I’ll attach the Indeed listing below with all of the details and information on how to apply.
And hopefully soon, I can finally escape the kitchen and get back out front where I belong. 😂❤️
Seriously, though, if you’ve stopped in recently hoping to say hello and I was stuck in the kitchen, please know I wasn’t avoiding you. I genuinely want to meet you.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything that has happened, but I think this is a pretty good first step. ❤️🎳
