Many viewers of the film have asked about the symbolism and inner landscape that often appears in Gary Spinosa’s sculpture. Next week I’ll be posting a reflection on one of Gary’s works titled: “Gary Spinosa and the Architecture of the Soul: A Sculpture Study.”

Happy New Year.

I woke up this morning to the news that Divine Instinct was short-listed as a Nominee for Best Film Essay by the Darkland Film Awards, based in Germany.

While the film was submitted as a documentary feature, it was recognized in the Film Essay category — a form that sits at the intersection of documentary and experimental cinema, shaped by a personal point of view and reflective structure. That framing aligns well with how the film was conceived and constructed.

Grateful for the continued interest in the work, and for everyone who’s supported the film along the way.
