Acrylic Yarn or Cotton Yarn? Which one should you use?

The only rule I really *try* to follow is using the same fiber and weight as the pattern calls for. I might grab a different brand, if it’s cheaper. But if I want the pattern to work correctly, I match yarn weight and fiber.
