Now that our parents and students know, we must share some news publicly. It is with heavy hearts and deep disappointment that we must share some difficult news. Despite our best efforts and commitment to our studio, we have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Elko En Pointe after our upcoming Winter Recital.

This was not a decision we made lightly, and it comes after exploring every possible alternative.

With that being said, we are getting some pretty aggressive questions targeted at our amazing receptionist. She is not the owner or even the manager and does not have all the answers to these questions so we (the owners) figured we would make this post and answer a few.

1. How can we be so evil and take this away from the children?
The reason we pushed so hard these last 6 months is for the children. This was not a decision made lightly and to get comments like this is so heartbreaking to all of us here at Elko En Pointe. To be able to keep the studio going and the business break even (no profit so the business could make upgrades etc.) we needed 160 enrollments. The studio has skated by the last 6 months with only 70ish enrollments. After months of having to support 70% of the studio out of our own pockets, this is not feasible for us to keep doing long term.

2. Why have we not made this public so someone else can buy the business?
We have offered many people the option to even just absorb the business and keep it going (because it is not making any money, it cannot be sold, it is not worth anything right now) and the financial burden that is would put on anyone who even considered taking it over, is far to great. We are talking $6000+ a month, out of someone's own pocket, to keep the doors open. If you are interested or know someone who might be able to take it on, please by all means, reach out. We would love to talk with you.

At the end of the day, we needed more support from the community. 160 enrollments is nothing compared to the amount of children actually living in Elko alone. For those that have been with us, just know your support has meant the world and we are sorry that we can't keep going. But please understand it was not for a lack of effort. We just ask, before you ask such unnecessary cruel questions, to put yourself in our shoes because it was not an easy choice to make. We did not just wake up one morning and decide to throw in the towel. It has been months and months of trying to figure out how to bring in more students to help with those out of pocket costs.

We are incredibly grateful for the support and dedication shown by every dancer and parent who has been a part of the Elko En Pointe dance family! We truly appreciate the trust you placed in us to be a part of your children's dance journey.

We are committed to making our Winter Recital a truly special and memorable final performance for our dancers!

We wish you all the very best in your future endeavors and hope that your children continue to pursue their passion for dance.
