💙✨ Sister Quilts for a Special Client ✨💙

Just got two stunning sister quilts for a client—one hand-pieced, one machine-pieced, both in the same gorgeous blue-and-white palette.

I’m giving them a “victory lap” of stitching along the sides using a serger, with the backing loaded horizontally to reduce passes. The goal: two completely different quilting designs, same thread color, showing how quilting style alone can transform a quilt and bring it to life!

It’s amazing to see how different designs each give their own unique personality to the quilts. Two quilts, one color, endless possibilities. ✂️🧵

🎬 Bobbin Chicken strikes again… and I lost. 🐔💥

Was cruising along on my binding when suddenly… out of bobbin thread! 😳 Nothing like a dramatic thread cliffhanger to keep things interesting. My quilt looks amazing—just with a little extra “creative tension” at the edge. 😂

Lesson learned: always check your bobbin before you play chicken. 🧵✂️

Big Circles, Big Impact! 💛

I added big circles to this quilt to echo the natural curves in the landscape and bring a sense of movement and flow. They soften the straight lines, add beautiful texture, and help the quilting blend perfectly with the scene.

Sometimes it’s the simplest designs that make the biggest difference. I love how the big circles tie it all together!

If these snips could talk, oh the stories they would tell. They’ve cut through more fabric than I can count, seen more quilts than I can imagine, and carried the careful hands of someone who loved every stitch. These were my grandma Alice’s, from her quilt shop days, and somehow, they’ve found their way into my hands. Every time I pick them up, I feel her focus, her patience, the quiet joy she took in creating something beautiful. They may be small and simple, but to me, they’re priceless — a connection to the past, and a reminder that some tools carry more than just fabric. They carry history, love, and inspiration. ✨
