🍂 Fall is officially on the longarm! 🥕🧵

There’s something about these warm oranges, fall florals, and those adorable carrots that just makes me ready for cooler mornings and everything autumn.

This one came off the longarm with a beautiful flowing quilt design that adds plenty of texture without taking away from all that gorgeous piecing. And that border? It framed everything perfectly.

Another quilt finished and ready for its next chapter. ❤️

One of my favorite things about longarm quilting? It works on my schedule. 🧵

I was up again this morning before the sun, coffee going, longarm humming away, and binding being made while most of the world was still asleep.

That’s the beauty of building something of your own. You don’t always have to carve out a perfect 8–5 schedule. Got a couple hours before work? Quilt. Can’t sleep at 2:30 AM? Quilt. Have a free Saturday morning? Let that machine RUN.

And the best part? Those hours can turn into extra income.

Longarming can start as a hobby, become a side hustle, help pay for your quilting obsession 😂, or grow into a real business. You get to decide how big you want to make it.

There’s just something pretty satisfying about watching a quilt roll across the frame, hearing that machine buzz, making binding at sunrise, and knowing you’re creating something beautiful and building an income at the same time.

🐩🧵 THE LONGARM IS BUZZING AGAIN!

It’s been a minute, but Patchwork Poodle Quilt Co. is officially back at it!

Between life happening, software issues, running the farm, and a hectic work schedule, quilting had to take a back seat for a little while. But there’s just something about hearing that longarm buzzing across a quilt again that feels SO good. ❤️

Apparently my brain decided 2:30 AM was the perfect time to get started today because I couldn’t sleep. 😂 So I’ve been quilting ever since.

And honestly, that might be one of my favorite things about having a longarm…

She doesn’t care if it’s 2:30 in the afternoon or 2:30 in the morning.
If I’m awake and ready to quilt, so is she. 😂🧵

Farm waking up outside 🐴
And stitches finally going down again.

Man, I’ve missed this.

There’s something about a Missouri sky rolling in with that heavy gray that makes everything feel like it needs to be done right now.

Before the next storm hits, I finally got time back at the frame to work on the sister quilts.

Same story in both tops, same fabric family… but two completely different personalities once you start stitching them down. That’s the part I love most—how thread can change everything.

One is leaning soft and steady, the other is asking for a little more movement, a little more edge. And I’m letting them both be exactly what they want to be.

The wind’s already picking up outside, so I’ve got just enough time to get a good stretch of stitching in, listen to the machine hum, and watch these quilts start to come alive before the storm settles in.

More to come once the skies clear again.

Loading a quilt backing in real time… from the take up bar side this time 😅

I recently moved my studio and apparently my quilting setup decided it needed a full personality change. Things that used to go smoothly are suddenly making me work for it 😂

So today I hit record and showed the real process — the good, the awkward, and yes… the bloopers included. Because sometimes quilting is perfectly squared backing and smooth loading… and sometimes it’s wondering why your leaders suddenly feel backwards after a studio move.

If you’ve ever rearranged your sewing space and immediately forgot how you used to do everything, this one is for you 🤍

Well… after the studio move, the loading process may have included a few questionable moments, a little confusion, and some bloopers 😅

But honestly? Not a bad outcome at all.

The backing loaded up, the quilt is rolling smooth, and sometimes that’s the beauty of quilting — even when things don’t go exactly to plan, it still comes together in the end.

A little patience, a little problem solving, and a whole lot of “let’s see if this works” energy 😂

I think this quilt turned out pretty darn good considering the chaos behind the scenes. Stay tuned for more quilting adventures, real life moments, and all the things nobody shows you in the polished tutorials like the top bar popping out and swinging around .

When you look closely at those hand stitches, you can see the patience, the care, and the hours someone quietly poured into every block. No fancy machines. No shortcuts. Just skilled hands, steady determination, and a love for creating something meant to last.

Every uneven stitch and perfectly imperfect seam tells a story. A late night at the kitchen table. A favorite fabric carefully saved. A quilt made for comfort, celebration, or love.

There’s something humbling about loading a hand stitched quilt onto the frame. You realize you’re not just quilting fabric… you’re helping preserve someone’s craftsmanship and history.

These old hand stitched beauties deserve to be admired because they truly are works of art. ❤️

Sister quilts are getting their victory lap tonight ✨

Before the quilting magic really begins, I like to run a quick lap around the edges with the serger to keep all those seams flat, secure, and ready for the frame. Then comes a good ironing session… and y’all, just look at those hand stitches. ❤️

There’s just something special about seeing the tiny imperfections, the careful piecing, and the time someone poured into every block. You can almost feel the history stitched right into the fabric.

One quilt may be hand stitched, the other machine pieced, but both deserve to be brought back to life with quilting that lets their personality shine.

💙✨ Sister Quilts for a Special Client ✨💙

Just got two stunning sister quilts for a client—one hand-pieced, one machine-pieced, both in the same gorgeous blue-and-white palette.

I’m giving them a “victory lap” of stitching along the sides using a serger, with the backing loaded horizontally to reduce passes. The goal: two completely different quilting designs, same thread color, showing how quilting style alone can transform a quilt and bring it to life!

It’s amazing to see how different designs each give their own unique personality to the quilts. Two quilts, one color, endless possibilities. ✂️🧵
