I can’t believe I’m writing this but… I’m hosting a watercolor retreat in France next June! 🌻

〰️Watercolor in Nature: A Painting Retreat in France〰️

In a nutshell, this is an all-inclusive art retreat in the idyllic countryside near Toulouse. We’ll stay in a restored manor where our group has exclusive use of the grounds, garden, orchard, pool, hot tub, and art studios. Just me and our lovely hosts and a bunch of new art friends hanging out all week! All meals (and ample wine) will be prepared by a private chef and we’ll pair daily art lessons and nature journaling with outings to nearby towns and botanic garden.

We’ll focus on painting botanicals, birds, and pollinating insects in ink & watercolor, with morning nature journaling and skill-building sessions and afternoon “style studies” where we’ll explore the work of other nature artists, experiment with new techniques, and hone our individual style as artists.

I truly can’t wait to spend a week soaking up inspiration from our surroundings in southern France with this small group. I’ve been working hard to prep the itinerary and lesson plans and I gotta say, it’s shaping up to be quite the dreamy experience.

So excited to share my newest series, created specifically for kids! 🦋🐢

The Little Habitats Collection educates kids in a playful way on some of the plants & animals that can be found in 5 habitats: Bog, Meadow, Stream, Pond & Mountain.

The species included are specific to the Appalachian Mountains, but many of them can be found in other parts of the U.S. & Canada too. :)

Hey Pittsburgh! My traveling Tiny Worlds exhibition is up at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden, now through June 28 🪻🪻🪻

This collection of paintings has taken on quite a life of its own! It’s made its way to The Clay Center, West Liberty University, North Carolina Arboretum, and now to the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. I’m so grateful to all these museums/gardens/galleries for making space for these 40 original paintings that went into the manuscript for my second book.

Hope you can make it out to take a stroll and see some art this spring. :)

Getting my storefront fancy-fresh as I reopen post-maternity leave and prepare for our first ✨solo show✨ featuring another artist’s work!

Join us next Friday, February 27th from 5:00-6:30pm at Meander (212 Davis Ave, Elkins, WV) for an opening reception for Wheeling-based artist Hannah Hedrick of 🍃

Hannah’s show “Our Place in the Cosmos” features mixed media pieces that she created using plant dyes that she grew in her own garden.

There’s a square dance just down the street at immediately following the reception at 7pm, so swing by Meander and then go dance! 🎉
