It all began with collecting paper...

My love for collage began when my parents received a note of congratulations on their new home. The note was a small collection of words in various fonts and colors, overlapping and placed in non-traditional positions on a piece of cardstock. My inspiration comes from deeply held beliefs in equity, social justice, undying respect for the strength of those who

fight daily to be treated with common decency, lawfulness, respect, and morality. My hope is that the expression of these principles, and my fascination with color, form an occasional whimsy in my art, so it inspires and moves others. I’ve had a truly fulfilling career as a teacher and administrator, and now provide tutoring in the Philadelphia suburbs. Women in the Foliage was created over separate time periods. The women with outstretched arms have remained a theme over many iterations of my collages. You've met Phineas, the small and mischevious figure in the corner poking out from behind the tree, in many of my pieces. One of my favorites. This woman appears frequently in my work. I'm drawn to her dignity, as are others who view her, I'm told. I added oranges to her basket, and in some versions, a necklace, or crown, or braclet. Here she is joined by Phineas, about whom you've read. Unlikely aquaintances, they seem to have become companions in several of my pieces.
