Where would you put one???

Small paintings are great for small places. Places where you sit, and read or eat or work. Even the bathroom!!

They don't need to hang on the wall, they can lean in a windowsill, a mantle piece or a shelf.

Beauty belongs wherever you are. Small is beautiful

New painting from Your Beautiful Work series...

I often see Courtney Gutschenritter, from 3 Brothers Farm at pasture walks throughout the season. Usually toting a small person. What a fabulous spot to learn about farming, watching over her shoulder, how to walk a farm and see all the tiny details, all the smells and sounds a farmer takes in, all the signs to look for, how tall the grass is, what the residual left behind, the species of grasses and forbs, and the animals and their behaviors.

This is the beautiful work, and part of it's beauty is the passing of knowledge not from books or data , but from the work, the body knowledge. The corporal understanding of what looks, and smells and feels right.

This is the difference between information and knowledge. Between gathering and mining data, reducing food to chemical compounds and recombining to form 'foodstuffs', and understanding how environments work and stewarding the amazing alchemy of the natural world.

This is the beautiful work.

There are a number of reasons why using, wearing, and caring for wool is very different from other fibers and can make a real difference toward reducing environmental impact.

1️⃣ Wool is washed less
2️⃣ It can be dried on the line
3️⃣ It doesn’t contribute to microplastic pollution

At the end of its useful life, wool can be returned to the soil or the marine environment where it decomposes, releasing nourishing, nitrogen-based nutrients.

Let's hear it for heritage breed sheep like these Gulf Coast Native sheep. Thrifty, disease resistant and great producers of beautiful, fiber.

Think about wool, and adding more of it to your wardrobe. Regenerative practises, completely recyclable, long wearing and it doesn't release microfibers into your laundry wash water.. think about the sheep, the farmers who tend them , and the ocean..

Think about it, and then act with responsibility and love for our mother🌎

🌿This was my work 30 years ago!

🔸My thesis show in 1991was a series of intaglio prints that I bound into 4 handmade books. This was the cover of book #4 ..

🌿There are sheep on the cover!!! Who knew 30 years later I would still be making pictures of sheep

🔸I went to grad school for printmaking. I made a lot of really crappy art in grad school. But I guess that's a safe place to make bad work. I liked making prints, but in grad school I learned that I love painting..

🌿 Next week I am going to Minneapolis to be with 3 of my grad school buddies. 30 years is a lifetime and I am so grateful for my friendship with these 3 women.

🔸They have seen me through thick and thin and have been my rocks and cheerleaders through it all.

🌿 Whatever your endeavors are in life, please remember we are not doing this alone, we are meant to belong and help each other. Lean on and into the bonds of friendship, it is one of the true joys of life
