So so so very grateful for the The Electric Brew's presence and especially their Elkhart location!! They took a big chance on us for three years and we absolutely could not have grown the way we did without their enthusiastic support, willingness to try new things, and patience and care as we rearranged their whole space to accommodate our audiences. We appreciate it and congratulate you and your team on this award!! 🎉🎉🎉

Over the last 25 years, the Electric Brew has served as a gathering place, an office space and source for many residents' morning joe. Owners Dana and Myron Bontrager's practice in providing a safe and inclusive space over the years has earned them a Good of Goshen Award and Key to the City.

The plaque reads:

"In appreciation for decades of community partnership, leading by example and proving a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for our community to gather.

There is no greater investment that can be made than caring for others.

Thank you for your dedication and for serving with an open mind and a full heart."

Hold the phone, Team Soul! We're gearing up for our FIFTH season — and we're looking for outstanding talent for this extra special year!

If you're a singer-songwriter, rapper extraordinaire, band of punk rockers, a smooth jazz trio, a country star in the making, all of the above or nothing in between, you might get the chance to perform during our 2020 run, every fourth Saturday from July–November. Virtual auditions run like this:

1) Get a video recording of you or your group performing the song you think will wow us.
2) Send a link to the video to the Downtown Soul page or email [email protected] no later than **May 1.** In your message, be sure to include your name, the name your act, a short bio of the group and a link to your social media, website, SoundCloud, etc.
3) Only performers who can provide 30 minutes to an hour of **original material** will be considered. We do not host cover bands.
2) Local performers are preferred. However, acts from the greater Michiana and surrounding areas will be considered.

Downtown Soul Art and Music Series takes place at Five Star Dive Bar. Show us your stuff and see if you make the cut!

We're closing out the week with a shout-out to everyone we talked to at Vibrant Communities's Big Event on Wednesday! Thanks to all the folks who asked what we do, gave us encouragement and recommended artists and performers for season five. And extra special gratitude to Centier Bank for being our table-mates!
