Every journey has a beginning, and for NextReality VRcade, ours started with a leap of faith.
A few years ago, we had an idea: What if we brought Virtual Reality to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair?
The truth is... we had no idea if it would even work.
We had never attempted anything like it before. We weren't even sure we'd be accepted into the fair, but we were given an opportunityโand we decided to make the most of it.
With nothing more than a 10' x 10' booth, a handful of VR headsets, and a 50-inch TV so fairgoers could watch what players were seeing inside the virtual world, we opened our doors and hoped for the best.
The weather was incredibly hot, but that didn't stop people from gathering around.
For many, it was the very first time they had ever seen Virtual Reality in action. They watched players duck, dodge, laugh, and battle their way through virtual worlds, and before long, curiosity turned into excitement.
Then something amazing happened...
Our line kept growing.
In fact, it grew so much that it stretched past neighboring vendors. We were told some of them weren't too happy because our booth had become one of the busiest attractions in the area!
By the end of the week, we had done more than just break evenโwe had proven there was a real appetite for immersive entertainment right here in our community.
That little 10' x 10' booth became the launching point for what would eventually become NextReality VRcade.
Looking back, we're incredibly grateful to everyone who took a chance on us, played their first VR game, shared a laugh, and encouraged us to keep going.
To everyone who has supported us from that first fair until today...
