Inspiration really is everywhere. 🌸

A walk past my flower garden sparked the colors for this piece. I brought that inspiration into the studio, pulled out an older canvas, and started giving it a new life.

I don’t always know exactly where a painting is going when I begin. Sometimes I simply choose a color, make the first mark, and let the conversation unfold.

Last night’s Coffee & Ink Creative Soul Circle was such a beautiful reminder that creativity has no rules. ☕️🎨

We explored boundaries while painting with coffee, then added ink and allowed each piece to become something completely its own. I loved watching the same simple materials lead to so many different expressions.

There was laughter, connection, curiosity, and plenty of permission to play. And just look at these amazing creations!

Thank you to everyone who spent the evening creating with me. My heart is full. 🤎

🌻 PIVOT: Textured Flower Art — Part 1

My word for August is PIVOT.

Sometimes a painting—and life—doesn’t go according to plan. We shift, adjust, try something new, and keep moving forward.

Today I started my second textured art piece by building the flower with molding paste. It’s messy, imperfect, and so much fun! I love watching a flat canvas begin to take shape.

In Part 2, I’ll add color, expressive lines, and all the little details that bring it to life.

Here’s to trusting the process, even when it leads somewhere unexpected. 💛

Creative Soul Circle: Coffee & Ink Art

Join local artist Jennifer Narr for a relaxing evening of creativity as we explore the unique and expressive world of coffee-and-ink art.

Using brewed coffee as our paint and ink as our finishing detail, you'll learn simple techniques for creating rich textures, organic shapes, and beautiful contrast. No artistic experience is necessary. This class is designed to be approachable, fun, and inspiring for beginners and experienced creatives alike.

Each participant will create a finished 9x12 coffee and ink artwork to take home.

In this workshop, you'll:
Learn the basics of painting with coffee
Explore texture, layering, and movement
Add ink details to bring your artwork to life
Create a one-of-a-kind piece of art
Enjoy a supportive and relaxed creative atmosphere

I set a goal to create 10 paintings during our 5-day getaway. I finished 7, and you know what? I’m totally okay with that. 💕

Even better, 3 of those 7 were co-created with my granddaughter, Olive. She made the first marks, and I built around them. Those unexpected little collaborations ended up being one of my favorite parts of the week.

Sometimes the goal gives us somewhere to aim, but the magic is what happens along the way.
