Playing with joyful abandon

Recalling one of my earliest memories, I am sprawled on the wooden floor of my childhood home drawing replicas of “dolls from around the world” pictured in the color-plate section of Volume D of The World Book Encyclopedia.

Drawing paper was scarce in our house so I sketched on the back of some of my older sister’s artwork from school using a No. 2 pencil.

As I grew older, my love for creating continued but, as is often the case, my artistic passion got pushed aside as I engaged in higher education and a several decades of grown up stuff, including a career, marriage, parenting, and a search for the meaning of life (still seeking).

Now that I’m retired, I am returning to my roots as an artist. I love the notion of upcycling as I believe that there is more than one purpose for everything and everyone.
