Bring your blankets, chairs, and picnic baskets to Citizens Park in Barrington on Wednesday, June 10th for Woodwind Serenades in the Park. ESO woodwind musicians take over the Soule Amphitheater for an evening of music by Enescu, Gordon Jacob, Mozart, and d'Indy. This concert is free and open to all. We'd love to see you there.

🙌 Please join us in thanking and congratulating ESO Principal Flutist Jean Bishop on her retirement after this weekend’s concerts. 🙌

“The ESO has been my passion for 47 seasons,” Jean, who has not missed playing in an ESO concert any of those years, said. “The opportunity to perform for so many years with my amazing colleagues has been nothing short of spectacular. It's been an honor and a great adventure to play under four of ESO's five Music Directors.”

When asked for her most memorable moments over her ESO career, Jean reflected, “The most memorable concerts for me were the performances of the 10th, 11th, and 12th Symphonies of Shostakovich with Andrew Grams, as well as Mahler's 5th Symphony. In particular, the May 2013 concert of Moussorgsky's Introduction to Khovantschina, Vaughan-Williams' The Lark Ascending, and Shostakovich's 10th Symphony will forever be a career highlight.”

Are you attending one of our concerts this weekend at the Hemmens Cultural Center?

Be sure to come an hour early to hear Music Director Chad Goodman talk about the music you will hear and the composers who wrote it in our Pre-Concert Talk, free for all ticket holders. It’s a great way to enhance your concert experience!

Pre-concert chats begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May, and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3, and take place in the concert hall.

Still need a ticket? Order online at www.elginsymphony.org/tickets or purchase at the door to enjoy a program including Angélica Negrón's Moriviví, Richard Strauss's Death and Transfiguration and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.
