Moonrise Under Oraibi~
On a windswept Hopi Mesa, sits the ancient village of Oraibi..
The oldest continuously inhabited Spiritual Community
on the continent. On the Horizon, I watched the Sun set.
Silhouetting this ancient place, I glanced in my car rear view mirror and saw our magnificent Mother Moon rising behind me.
This was the photographic challenge of that special evening.
No ”photoshop magic” with this one…

Kudos to Community Center Facilitator, Artists ~ Mariel Garcia and Scripture heading up the mural project, and students, TCA interns and other youth apprentices from the community!

The back story:
This is a vintage hand colored photograph of the Old Lunch Counter at the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. Back before it was sold, upgraded/renovated and became hootsy tootsie ..The Springs has been a place of healing
way before the Hispanics and Anglos arrived in “The land of Enchantment”
Word has it, that back in the day,
Georgia O’Keefe would come to the Healing Waters..
and sit at the lunch counter for a bite after her soak..
