Showcasing innovative performers in the Philanthropy Theatre, an intimate "jewel box" of a venue in the Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Centre.

A local performing arts series created in 2014 by the El Paso Community Foundation, in partnership with El Paso Live, to promote community arts groups and the intimate Philanthropy Theatre in the Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Centre.

Anthony Michael Stokes ("The Scarecrow") and Kessto Kreatures return to the Jewel Box Series to close out its 10th anniversary season with performances of their new show, "An Anansi Experience," at 2:30 and 7 pm Sunday, May 17 in the Philanthropy Theatre. Tickets: $15 at the Plaza Theatre Box Office and Ticketmaster.

Next up in the Jewel Box Series' 10th anniversary season is "The Boys Next Door," the Tom Griffin play about a group of men with intellectual disabilities and their earnest young social worker. Originally set in Boston, it has been re-set in our border region, and is directed by Mario Rodriguez for Eden Performing Arts.

Performance is at 2:30 pm Sunday, March 15 in the Philanthropy Theatre. Tickets are $15 at the Plaza Theatre Box Office and Ticketmaster.

Next up in our 10th anniversary season is Stephanie Karr and Mark Watts' "Seven More Deadly Shorts," the follow up to their 2022 Jewel Box hit "Seven Deadly Shorts." It will be staged at 2:30 pm Sunday, Jan. 11 in the Philanthropy Theatre.

it's produced by Star on the Mountain Theatrical Productions, with Elizabeth Mullins and Rachel Mullins directing.

The Jewel Box Series 10th anniversary season continues with "Rey de la Luna," an original play by El Paso filmmaker and St. Joseph's School theater teacher Diego Muñoz Holguin. It's about a guy torn between the streets and his ambition to become an astronaut. Performances are at 2:30 and 7 pm Sunday, Dec. 14 in the Philanthropy Theatre, inside the Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center. Tickets: $15 at the Plaza Theatre Box Office and ticketmaster.com

The El Paso Community Foundation Jewel Box Series at the Philanthropy Theatre opens it 10th anniversary season with Star on the Mountain Theatrical Productions' staging of Jason Pizzarello's "The Continuum Tales" at 2:30 pm Sunday, Nov. 9 in the Philanthropy Theatre. It's a trippy series of seven shorts about a couple that discovers a mysterious book. Rachel Mullins and Elizabeth Mullins direct.

Tickets are $15 (no service fees) at the Plaza Theatre Box Office, which will be open from 10 am-3pm weekdays and three hours before showtime, and Ticketmaster.

Watch a new play and theater group bloom when high school theater educators Talia Leilani Davila and Noelle Mullenix debut their "The Mad Flower," a play with music and dance, at 2:30 pm May 11 (Mother's Day) in the Plaza Theatre's Philanthropy Theatre. El Paso playwright Felix Arenas returns to the Jewel Box Series for the premiere of his new play "Requiem for Rosa Elena's Dream," a story about how life and three generations take a toll on a family.

It will be performed at 2:30 pm Sunday, April 13 in the Plaza Theatre's Philanthropy Theatre. Tickets are $15 (no service fees) at the box office, open from 10 am-3 pm weekdays and event day and at Ticketmaster.com (with service fees).

SOMOS Performance Group, a new theater group founded by the mother-daughter team of theater veterans Beth Leffler and Josey Pickett, makes its Jewel Box Series debut with the Peter Pan-inspired family musical "Peter and the Starcatcher" at 2:30 pm Sunday, March 9 in the Plaza Theatre's Philanthropy Theatre.

Tickets are $15 with no service charge at the Plaza Theatre Box Office (open 10 am-3 pm weekdays and for events) and Ticketmaster.com (with service charge).

Star on the Mountain Theatrical Productions returns for its second Jewel Box Series production of the season with the Diana Son drama "Stop Kiss," about the consequences of a first kiss. It's directed by Rachel Mullins. Show time is 2:30 pm Sunday, February 9 in the Philanthropy Theatre inside the Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Centre.

Tickets are $15 at the Plaza Theatre Box Office and Ticketmaster.com.
