Growing up in rural Kansas with a pond, we caught crawdads — crawfish, mudbugs, whatever you call them — boiled them, and ate them. And somehow, that tradition has made its way to the next generation.
Our son, Trevor, loves doing crawfish boils now, and he goes all in - Corn. Sausage. Shrimp. Crawdads. Potatoes. Scallops. Onion. Garlic. The whole thing.
Trent, however, is not interested. While the rest of us were gathered around the table, Trent was perfectly happy with a leftover grilled burger and his rocking chair. And honestly, that’s very Trent.
Family traditions don’t always look the same for everybody. Sometimes one person is all in on the crawfish boil, and another person is living his best life with a burger, a chair, and no plans to participate.
Trent was happy. We were happy. And there were more crawdads for the rest of us!
