What an incredible night for Cascadia! 🌟

Last weekend, Starlight on the Sound brought together the Cascadia community for a gala with stunning views of the Edmonds waterfront. Highlights of the event included thoughtfully crafted cuisine, warm company, live plein air artists, and exciting auctions.

Thanks to the generosity of so many, we raised over $500,000 to support the work of the museum. We are tremendously grateful!

Cascadia's Curator, David Martin, has spent decades researching and rediscovering works by members of the Seattle Camera Club (1924-1930).

Established in 1924, the Seattle Camera Club (SCC) was a pioneering group in the blossoming movement of pictorialism, or art photography. At its height in the late 20's, SCC members were some of the most exhibited pictorial photographers in the world. Despite this success, factors like the Great Depression and the unjust incarceration of Issei SCC members during WW2 disrupted their lives and led the loss of much of their work.

In this photo: David Martin shares the story of Ella McBride (1862-1965), a core SCC member whose photography studio became a hub for SCC members to produce work, collaborate, and share techniques.
