🎤 Behind the Scenes: How I Prepare for Every Ceremony

Many people see the 15-30 minutes I’m standing at the front of the ceremony.

What they don’t see is everything that happens beforehand.

Before every wedding, I spend time preparing because I believe your ceremony deserves more than simply reading from a script.

Here’s what goes into every ceremony:

📖 I pray for you and your future marriage.

🤝 I take time to get to know your story and what makes your relationship unique.

✍️ I personalize your ceremony so it reflects your personalities, values, and love story.

💍 I review the timeline and coordinate with your planner, photographer, DJ, and venue when needed.

🎤 I rehearse so your ceremony flows smoothly and naturally.

❤️ Most importantly, I remind myself that this isn’t just another event—it’s one of the most important moments in two people’s lives.

My goal isn’t simply to pronounce you husband and wife.

My goal is to help create a meaningful, Christ-centered ceremony that you’ll remember for the rest of your lives.

It is truly an honor every time a couple trusts me to be part of their wedding day.

Hi Friends, Let’s discuss the scripture Ecclesiastes 4:12, A Cord of Three Strands and its meaning…

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” — Ecclesiastes 4:12

The Big Idea

Marriage was never meant to be lived alone.

When a husband and wife rely only on each other, life’s challenges can strain the relationship. But when Jesus Christ is at the center of the marriage, He becomes the third strand that strengthens, supports, and holds the relationship together.

A healthy marriage isn’t just about two people deeply in love—it’s about two people growing closer to God and, as a result, growing closer to one another.

What the Three Strands Represent

❤️ Husband

* Leads with love, humility, and sacrifice.
* Chooses faithfulness every day.

❤️ Wife

* Loves, encourages, and supports her husband.
* Builds a home filled with grace and respect.

✝️ God

* The foundation that holds everything together.
* Provides wisdom, forgiveness, peace, and unconditional love.

When all three strands are woven together, the marriage becomes stronger than either person could be alone.

Questions for Couples

1. What role do we want God to have in our marriage?
2. How can we encourage one another spiritually?
3. What habits can we begin now to keep Christ at the center of our relationship?
4. When conflict comes, how can we seek God’s wisdom before reacting?
5. What does a Christ-centered marriage look like to us?

Practical Challenge

This week, choose one way to intentionally invite God into your relationship.

Ideas include:

* Pray together each day.
* Read one chapter of the Bible together.
* Attend church together.
* Share one thing you’re thankful for about each other every evening.
* Pray over your future marriage and family.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing us together. Help us build our relationship on a foundation that will stand through every season of life. Teach us to love one another with patience, grace, forgiveness, and humility. May You always be the center of our marriage, the third strand that holds us together when life becomes difficult.

Strengthen our love, deepen our faith, and guide every step we take together.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Remember: A successful marriage isn’t built on perfect people. It’s built on two imperfect people who choose to love one another while keeping God at the center of their lives.

Hello Friends,

We are back on this beautiful Thursday afternoon. When it comes to marriage and weddings. I wanted to post some pre-marriage conversations you should have with your fiancé or fiancée…

💍 5 Things Every Couple Should Discuss Before Marriage

Your wedding lasts one day.

Your marriage is meant to last a lifetime.

Before you say, “I do,” make sure you’ve had these important conversations:

❤️ 1. Faith & ValuesWhat role will faith play in your marriage? How will you encourage one another spiritually and make decisions together?

💰 2. FinancesTalk honestly about budgeting, debt, savings, spending habits, and your financial goals. Money shouldn’t be a surprise after the wedding.

👨‍👩‍👧 3. Family & ChildrenDiscuss your hopes for children, parenting styles, family traditions, and healthy boundaries with extended family.

🗣️ 4. Communication & ConflictDisagreements are inevitable. Decide now that you’ll handle conflict with love, respect, honesty, and forgiveness—not anger or silence.

🏡 5. Dreams & Future GoalsWhere do you want to live? What careers do you hope to pursue? What kind of life do you want to build together? Shared dreams create a shared direction.
A strong marriage isn’t built by avoiding difficult conversations—it’s built by having them with honesty, grace, and love.

📖 “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” — Mark 10:9

If you’re engaged, which of these conversations has been the most meaningful—or the most challenging?

💍 Wedding Tip Wednesday

Book your officiant earlier than you think.

Many couples secure their venue, photographer, and DJ months in advance—but wait until the last minute to find the person who will actually lead one of the most meaningful moments of their wedding day.

Your officiant does much more than pronounce you married.

A great officiant will:
• Get to know your story.
• Help you build a ceremony that reflects your personalities.
• Coordinate with your planner, photographer, and DJ.
• Lead a smooth rehearsal.
• Keep the ceremony relaxed and on schedule.
• Create a moment you’ll remember for the rest of your lives.

The best officiants often book months in advance, especially during spring and fall wedding seasons.

💍 Pro Tip: Once you’ve chosen your date and venue, make booking your officiant one of your next priorities.

What part of wedding planning has surprised you the most?

Why I became a wedding officiant?

People often ask me why I became a wedding officiant.

The answer is simple: I believe marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts.

A wedding is more than a beautiful venue, flowers, or photographs. It’s two people making a lifelong covenant before God, their family, and their friends. Being trusted to stand with a couple during that sacred moment is an honor I never take lightly.

I have been in the wedding for going on 11 years now. I actually started in the wedding business as a wedding DJ, helping a friend with his DJ business, which I did for six years. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy connecting people through music, but I knew that wasn’t my calling; I knew my calling was to be in ministry. I served in youth ministry for 10 years and have been ordained for 8 years now. Since I knew my calling was in ministry and because I was already in the wedding ministry, I connected with other officiants to help transitioned to become one. I wanted to do more than perform ceremonies—I wanted to encourage couples, point them toward a strong foundation, and remind them that a lasting marriage is built on faith, love, commitment, and selfless service.

That’s the heart behind why my wife and I started our Three Strand Ministries.

My prayer is that every ceremony I lead reflects each couple’s unique story while honoring the One who created marriage.

Whether it’s a large celebration, a small family gathering, an elopement, or a vow renewal, my goal is always the same: to help create a meaningful ceremony that couples will remember for the rest of their lives.

Thank you to every couple who has trusted me to be part of such an important day. It is truly a privilege.

Here’s why many couples should prioritize the officiant before other vendors:

1. The Ceremony Sets the Tone for the Entire Wedding

Your officiant helps create:

* The ceremony style (formal, romantic, religious, modern, funny, spiritual, etc.)
* The pacing and emotional flow
* The overall atmosphere guests remember most

The ceremony is the centerpiece of the wedding day, so locking in the right officiant helps define the vision for everything else.

2. Popular Officiants Book Up Fast

Experienced officiants often reserve dates:

* 6–18 months in advance
* Especially for Saturdays, holidays, and peak wedding seasons

Booking early ensures you get someone whose personality and style truly fit you instead of settling later.

3. Your Officiant Can Help Build the Timeline

A great officiant often helps with:

* Ceremony length
* Processional order
* Vow structure
* Rehearsal planning
* Marriage license requirements

That guidance can influence scheduling decisions for:

* Venue timing
* Photography timelines
* DJ/music cues
* Reception start times

4. The Officiant Helps Personalize the Wedding

Unlike many vendors, the officiant usually spends time learning:

* Your story
* Your values
* Your families
* Your relationship dynamic

This creates a more meaningful and memorable experience than a generic ceremony script.

5. Legal Requirements Matter

Different states and counties have different marriage laws. Your officiant can help make sure:

* The marriage license is valid
* Witness requirements are met
* Paperwork is filed correctly
* The ceremony wording meets legal standards

Handling this early avoids last-minute stress.

6. Other Vendors Support the Ceremony

Many vendors are built around the ceremony schedule:

* Photographers plan shot lists around it
* Florists design ceremony arrangements
* DJs coordinate music timing
* Videographers prepare ceremony coverage

Once the officiant and ceremony structure are established, the rest of the vendor team can align more smoothly.

7. Guests Remember the Ceremony More Than Details

People may forget:

* Table linens
* Chair covers
* Favors

But they remember:

* The vows
* The emotions
* The laughter
* The connection

A strong officiant can make the ceremony feel authentic and unforgettable.

For couples wanting a wedding that feels deeply personal rather than just visually beautiful, the officiant often becomes the most important vendor choice of all.
