FLORIDA PANHANDLE: If you are still in an evacuation area, the window to get somewhere safer is closing quickly.
Hurricane Isaias remains a major hurricane with 120 mph winds, and the National Hurricane Center says tropical-storm conditions are already beginning along the northern Gulf Coast. Life-threatening storm surge, destructive winds, flooding, and tornadoes are all possible. Preparations should be completed now.
For Pensacola Beach specifically, ECUA is shutting down BOTH water and sewer service at 3:00 PM Central / 4:00 PM Eastern today once emergency crews leave the island. There is no guaranteed restoration time. If you are still there, please follow the evacuation order.
Santa Rosa County has expanded its evacuation order to Zones A, B, and C, along with low-lying areas and mobile homes. Transportation to a designated shelter is available while winds remain below tropical-storm force.
For people with disabilities, paralysis, or medical needs, evacuation takes more planning. Please do not assume a shelter can provide the personal care you normally receive at home.
If you are evacuating:
• Bring your medications, medical supplies, chargers, backup batteries, and essential equipment.
• Make arrangements for your caregiver or personal assistant to go with you if you require hands-on care.
• Confirm accessible transportation before conditions get worse.
• Keep emergency alerts turned on.
• If you use powered medical or mobility equipment, have a backup power plan.
• Do not wait until a tornado warning is issued to figure out how you will get to a safe interior location.
