We’re not really sure when we coined the name “Sassquatch”, but the basic idea is a large furry creature with pink lipstick and a sassy attitude. We’ve done many iterations of the Sassquatch pink and tan theme over the years, but Mr. Schmokel’s Sassquatch has a fresh layout designed just for him, with personal touches throughout. This build is a tall boi, and is rolling on our 3.0X wheels for extra tall boi resilience. The lovely tan Repente Quasar saddle is perfectly matched to bar tape that we painstakingly searched for across space and time. Don’t ask for the brand, we have no idea how to even find it again.
Someone recently asked us if we could make an “all road” Rodeo bike, one that fits 35-45mm tires. This seems like a good state to use this bike as an answer to that question: We don’t fundamentally believe in making bikes that fit into thinly sliced niches like so much of the rest of the bike industry does. We aren’t trying to make and sell a bike for every purpose. For better or for worse, we tend to take widely capable bikes that can span genres. This bike is built with 45mm tires. It works great. It will also work well with 2.2” tires, or 34mm tires. Yes, the handling shifts slightly with different tire sizes, but not so much that the rider doesn’t adapt quickly. We test this theory on ourselves first. We ride our bikes in every terrain and condition we can imagine in order to validate the theiry that yes: A single bike can be widely capable and enjoyable across a myriad of uses. TD4 is a phenomenal bike. Have we also ridden Leadville 100, Tour Divide, road races, cyclcocross races, gravel races, and everything in between on it also? You bet we have.
