A very special thank you to Dee Dee McNeil for the fantastic review of Steve Fidyk’s new CD RED BEATS.

“Jack Wilkins sounds amazing on guitar and the horn harmonies are arranged beautifully by Andrew Carson. In fact, all the arrangements of these original compositions by Fidyk are tight, creative and exciting. They exploit the merging of contemporary styles with big band swing and bebop jazz. Fidyk’s polyrhythmic message is both engaging and tenacious. This is his fourth date as a leader and features all-star band members pulled from popular bands like the Buddy Rich Big Band, the Count Basie Orchestra, The Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, Maynard Ferguson’s Big Bop Nouveau, The Army Blues, The Navy Commodores and The Airmen of Note. What’s not to love?”

One for T.J., arranged by Philadelphia tenor saxophonist Jack Saint Clair, is one of the featured compositions on the new Steve Fidyk Live Wire Broadband recording RED BEATS.

Jack first honed his craft as a composer/arranger during his four years leading a big band on first Thursday nights at LaRose Jazz Club in Germantown. Since then, he has arranged music for the Philly POPS, the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Temple University Jazz Band, the PRISM quartet and Chelsea Reed and her Fairweather Nine. More recently, Jack has written some sting arrangements for saxophonist Larry McKenna which will soon be released on CD.
