Recently finished up Screen Door Visitor. Again I did some stainless accents on the iconic black markings on a cicada. Really happy with how this piece came together. The way it’s suspended it turns back and forth it the wind. The screen allows you to view the underside of the insect as well.
Thanks for looking
On a side note it will only be out for about another week as my family and I will be closing on a house Friday. So my art production will be on hold for a couple months while we get settled. Once we are established I will post my new address for anyone who would like to view my latest sculptures in person.
Thank you

Giant cicada is coming along. The wings are mocked up and I think they really brought the whole project together. Thus far this piece has been a struggle for me but I’m finally starting to gain satisfaction. Couple more good runs at it and it should be complete.

Wow I could not be more thrilled. My oldest daughter (Luna) just got recognized tonight at Jr High awards ceremony as the 7th grade artist of the year. Along with this award she won best of show at river front arts emerging artist exhibit for 3D art. She was also recognized for having a piece selected for the bliss art show. It was a very proud dad moment. I’m thinking soon That Guy on J will have his first employee.

What’s next. Screen Door Visitor
You can look forward to a giant cicada on a huge piece of screen. It’s alway pleasant to be in the presence of a cicada resting on your screen in the summer. This sculpture is going to also incorporate stainless steel highlights for the iconic black markings you see on the thorax and head. Right now it’s about half done and will hopefully be completed by July.

Here is a sneak peek

Now what’s new. A couple months ago I finished up a piece called Spring Arrival. After the long doldrums of winter we all look forward to the signs of spring. I tried to capture this with a damsel fly perched on a twig with new leaves emerging from buds. This was a very hard thing to accomplish I found out after the fact. Overall I think it turned out. This sculpture is my first attempt at highlighting key characteristics with a different metal. The iconic black on blue patches on the abdomen are done in stainless. I think it’s a nice contrast.

Every year Eau Claire Wi has a sculpture tour. This has become the nation’s largest rotating tour with over 120 sculptures. I had Suspended Shadow selected to be part of the 2026 tour. Being my first piece selected for a tour I am overwhelmed with emotion right now. Especially after walking around and taking in all the talent that is scattered about the community. It’s an honor to be part of it.

Yesterday was installation day. I had a wonderful support team. ( my daughters Luna and Keira). Everything went smoothly. So if you find yourself in Eau Claire this summer check me out. Suspended Shadow is located on Galloway street right across from Banbury Place.

Well it’s been awhile. It’s time to share my latest work and achievements. I apologize but this will probably be a huge post dump and then you probably will not hear from me for a bit again.

First off I want to share a book with everyone. This is about 7 months late so I’m sorry for that.

Big shout out to Michael Cooney who has created a book titled Wisconsin Man Art. He spent time traveling around Wisconsin and highlighted 44 non commercialized artist scattered across the landscape. Many of which you probably travel past and never realize it.

So pick yourself up a copy for your summer traveling. There’s a map inside where all the artists are located. Might be a nice way to break up a roadtrip.

Whether landing on your canoe paddle or your fishing rod we’ve all had an opportunity to experience the gracefulness of a damselfly flitting about. After a long vacation from the welder the creative energy is flowing again, and hopefully within the next month I will have a completed damselfly. Progress so far is 13 hours deep on a completed head.
