A Note from Lisa:
There are few losses as profound as losing a member of our theatre family. The bonds we create beneath the stage lights and through countless rehearsals are truly unique - woven from laughter, tears, shared challenges, and moments of creative vulnerability. Theatre is not simply a place, but a community built on trust, empathy, and the joy of collective storytelling.
Darin Powers has been on my mind so strongly since his transition. I was in Germany when he passed, so I was unable to be present to support his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter Cassie and Cassie's sons - also theatre family members - but when we lose one of our own, a piece of our family is missing, changing the dynamic both on stage and off. Their presence lingers in the lines we've rehearsed together, in the backstage rituals we shared, and in the memories that resurface with every thought of a show.
Grief in the theatre is collective; we comfort each other in the wings, will honor Darin's humor in our performances, and keep his spirit alive through the art we create.
Though the curtain has fallen for Darin, his influence will remain in every laugh, every heartfelt moment, and every standing ovation we experience together. We mourn, but we also celebrate the joy, humor, and passion he brought to our lives. In the end, our theatre family grows stronger, bound by the love and memories of Darin Powers, never forgetting the light he brought to our stage.
May you walk in beauty, Darin - it's time for Buford to go home.
