Dolly’s Dream Flies On at Eaton Community Schools!

In honor of the late Dolly Parton and her incredible legacy of literacy, Eaton High School Student Organizations are coming together to help put more books into the hands of our youngest Eagles.

From August 31–September 11, we are collecting new or gently used children’s books to help stock classrooms and provide books for students at East and Bruce Elementary.

Dolly believed in the power of a book to inspire a child to dream big. Help us keep that dream flying right here in Eaton, one book at a time.

🇺🇸 PATRIOT GRAVE MARKING SET FOR SATURDAY AT MOUND HILL CEMETERY

The Sons of the American Revolution will host a Patriot Grave Marking ceremony this Saturday, Aug. 29, at Mound Hill Cemetery.

Members of the Richard Montgomery Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will conduct the ceremony from 11 a.m.-noon, honoring the memory and service of Revolutionary War patriots buried in Eaton.

The ceremony will include speakers and traditional military honors, including the firing of black powder rifles and a cannon in salute.

Patriot Grave Marking ceremonies are part of the Sons of the American Revolution's efforts to recognize and preserve the memory of the men and women whose service and sacrifice helped establish the United States.

The ceremony is especially fitting during America's 250th anniversary year, as communities across Ohio and the nation recognize the people and events connected to America's founding.

❗️PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE — INCREASED TANKER TRAFFIC❗️

City of Eaton Fire & EMS is making residents aware of increased fire apparatus and tanker traffic in the area this afternoon.

The barn fire on Orangeburg Road near New Paris has rekindled, and firefighting operations are once again underway. Tankers from throughout Preble County are already committed to the scene.

Approximately 10 additional tankers from fire departments in other jurisdictions around Ohio are responding to assist. Those units will be staging temporarily at Eaton Fire & EMS Station 2 before traveling to the fire scene.

Residents may notice a significant number of fire tankers arriving in and traveling through Eaton. There is no emergency at Station 2. The station is simply being used as a staging location for incoming mutual-aid resources.

Please use extra caution, remain alert for emergency vehicles and give responding apparatus plenty of room on area roadways.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping our firefighters and mutual-aid partners travel safely.
