Meet the Artist: Josepha Price

Josepha Price is an Easton local. Most days you can find her at the YMCA or volunteering at the Middle or Elementary school using her artistry in some form.

She's been selling work and hosting workshops since 2016. Having worked in many mediums, her current favorite has become collage.

Using words with the visuals helps convey messages that often can be overlooked in traditional paintings. Sometimes artists want to make a statement with their work, sometimes they just want to make something that conveys a feeling, and sometimes it's just a picture... Josepha offers all the variations, and hopes you enjoy them as well.

Victor Abarca

MEET THE ARTISTS!!!

Victor Abarca grew up in a close-knit family on the Pacific coast of Mexico in the small fishing village of Barra de Navidad in the state of Jalisco. This environment sparked the artistic vision in him, that would one day appear on canvas. The impact his home had on his art can be seem through his depictions of palm trees, sunsets, the ocean, & the mountains. After traveling in the United States, Canada, & Central America, Victor attended the University of Guanajato in the Colonial State of Guanajato. Here, Victor learned the history of art and experimented with acrylic and pastels. Vincent Van Gogh and Monet left heavy impressions on his style.
Although Victor enjoyed acrylic, pastel and creating collages with recycled materials such as ci******es and money, he was looking for something with a deeper and richer texture. In 1994, Victor discovered his own technique that is now his signature style. He found that colored wax, dipped directly into a flame and placed immediately on the canvas, made for a unique texture. From then on, the medium of all his paintings was wax.

Today he resides in Dorchester County and continues using wax as his main medium. Recently he has added sand to his diverse styles of painting. His work can be found all over the world; he has clients in the United States, Mexico, Canada, England, Germany, Switzerland, and Australia.

Meet the Artist:

Dona Grant

Like a cautionary message on a needlepoint pillow, Cause & Effect aims to warn us against the emotional energy generated during significant communication breakdowns, preventing the formation of invisible barriers that could hinder all future communication.

I digitally patchworked my love for mosaic, photography, and writing to bring Cause & Effect into existence.

Three years ago, my husband and I made the best move ever by moving from Baltimore to the Eastern Shore to become an intergenerational family with my mother-in-law, Susan.

Cause & Effect

Practicing poor communication may cause
sudden outbursts of sharp, hurtful
words that swiftly pierce the
armor of common courtesy.
Thus, granting willing lips
permission to overflow
and spill vitriol into the
soft place between
sweet ears,
where once
lived something
precious.
This one act may
forever hinder the
growth of future harmony or delighted content.
Once that hurdle is defeated, the eyes, sensing
a return to the before times, shut tight, allowing
time-released words of poison to travel, felt -
yet unseen, to the paper fences built
in defense of the heart.

Meet the Artists of the Breakdown of Communication Exhibit!

Kelly Bonnette

Kelly Bonnette has called Easton, Maryland, home for 24 years after relocating from New Jersey. She currently resides with her husband and two dogs. A speech-language pathologist for almost three decades, Kelly's career has focused on helping individuals find their voices and connect through communication. With her two daughters now grown and forging their own paths, Kelly has turned her focus toward her own voice and creative passions. Through her business, the curious atelier, she crafts fun, sassy, and whimsical mixed media pieces. This work, which is her first public showing, marks a shift toward exploring the quieter, more complex breakdowns in communication within ourselves, especially around mental health, and that even in struggle, we share more humanity than we realize. She hopes that this piece invites reflection, conversation, and perhaps even a moment of recognition within. Kelly believes that art can serve as a powerful reminder that creativity can help us find connection, even in the spaces where words fail us, encouraging honesty and a shared appreciation for life’s beautifully messy truths.

If you are struggling with your mental health, please reach out to a medical professional, someone you trust, or call 988 for free and confidential support, 24/7.

Meet the Artist!

Bulsby "Buzz" Duncan

Buzz was born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Washington, DC. Buzz is a self-taught artist whose work can be described as abstract, with deep emotion and energy. Buzz traces his artistic influence on the great abstract, expressionists and contemporary artists of the 20th Century.

Buzz began painting and drawing as early as he can remember being able to pick up a pencil or a paintbrush. At an early age, he used art to express his ideas and feelings. "For me, art just felt very natural." Buzz had always been encouraged by family and friends to pursue his passion for painting, but it wasn't until he met a local artist whose love and appreciation for creating art inspired him to more intentionally step into his purpose and begin his artistic journey.

Buzz art works are a true expression of his passion for art and his constant desire to push the boundaries of creativity. With each brush stroke and every color choice, I strive to create something that speaks to the heart and soul. Buzz would like to invite you to take a moment and immerse yourself in the beauty of his artworks. From abstract to realism, each piece tells a unique story and offers a glimpse into my artistic journey.

For Buzz, art represents the merging of his thoughts and perspectives on life with his love for bold colors. He uses his art to explore his creativity and articulate the peace and unity he wishes to see throughout the world. Buzz believes art is life and creativity is a gift that should be shared with the world. Buzz wants to show you the world through my eyes and my vision for the future of art. Once you view my art, you will see the world as I see it and I believe you will find something that resonates with you. Hopefully it will inspire you to unlock your own creative energy.
