The Art of Script Analysis: Discovering the Hidden Depths of Your Character- Tuesdays, July 16th, 23rd and 30th 7:30-9pm at the Centreville Library. You can register by email to [email protected]

When most actors receive a script, highlighting their lines is often the first item of business.Yet, to fully develop a character for performance involves a more complex and meticulous process. The actor becomes part detective, part psychoanalyst and part historian. Script analysis consists of a deep dive into the text to uncover the often hidden and subtle intentions, motivations, and drives of the characters, as well as the plot itself.
Join us as we explore one of Shakespeare's most analyzed plays, Hamlet Prince of Denmark, and discover the art of script analysis. In this workshop, actors will learn how to dissect a script, uncovering vital clues that will help them bring authentic characters to life on stage.
This is the foundation of a series of Master Class workshops, each one building upon the previous. Subsequent workshops will explore how to incorporate the information gleaned from script analysis into your performance.

Shore Shakespeare is thrilled to announce the plans for the upcoming 2024 season! While a full-length production won't be staged, we are excited to offer a series of workshops focusing on Shakespeare, acting, and theatre in general. Each of the three workshops is valuable individually, but together, they provide a comprehensive journey from examining a script as an actor, director, or designer, to shaping a character or vision, and finally bringing that character to life on stage. The workshops will delve into one of Shakespeare's most intricate works throughout the series – Hamlet. First up is Script Analysis! Gain insights on dissecting a script, and learn the key questions to ask when unraveling the complexity of Shakespeare's characters. Registration for this workshop is open, and more details will be shared soon. These workshops are open to all, whether you are an experienced theatre enthusiast, Shakespearean aficionado, or completely new to the scene! You can register for free by email at [email protected]
