Here is something I've noticed, lately.
Prodigy's Vertical Labyrinth was designed for a one-off attempt, which means if you fail, the ball is dispensed and you start over from the bottom. Mostly younger patrons, but even on rare occasion older folks, attempt to "checkpoint" their attempt by holding on to the rings and attempting a retry from where the ball fell instead of starting all over. I call this "Checkpoint Culture."
It's usually younger gamers that experience video games that checkpoint your progress much more frequently since video games are longer and the developer doesn't want to lose their attention.
I grew up in the 80s, on video games where when you lose, you start all over. Given, games were way less involved and overall much shorter to complete, but I've found this correlation pretty interesting, but obviously not 100% true. Thoughts?
Prodigy is open tonight (Thursday) from 4pm to 10pm for $20 admission; all games included. Ages 13+ only. Please visit the website before visiting the room.
