Harvested and froze over 600 sugar maple leaves of varying sizes this week. It's a bit like farming with seasonal considerations.

Early June is when the sugar maples are the right sizes we need for use when most local plants are dormant, aka, "stick season." Who knows what's next? I'll see what I find, or what finds me.

Gorgeous tulip poplar with beautiful leaves, blossoms, and presence in my neighborhood. The blossoms seem especially vibrant today, possibly enhanced by the overcast sky. I went for several walks today and remembered why late spring/early meteorological summer can be so sublime.

Thanks to everyone who came to our little open studio yesterday. It was fun to see friends and customers. We appreciate the support! Special thanks to Paula Ellison for a chance to bring a few flowers from her yard to some of my vases. These are specialty pieces I don sell anywhere except Open studios--not online, not in galleries. I make them when I set aside some time away from regular production. Special thanks, as always, to Anna, who makes it possible for me to have that kind of time.

Come on up to the 4th floor and see what we've been creating. Lots of pieces from our winter production are on the shelves, and our earliest "garden variety" spring pieces are coming through the kiln as well. I'll be set up to share our process--and everything is marked below our full retail prices.

Fourth Floor, studio 404, from 1-6. We're not usually set up for retail sales so this is a unique chance to browse through all we have available.

Also, visit Tony at Cascata Woodworking on the 4th floor, studio 328; and Riverside Arts at the front 1 Cottage Street level entrance(technically, the second floor). Just out the front door is . From there you can check out other events around Cottage Street during the Sidewalk Strut.

Already starting to freeze leaves for the winter production season. I know, it's not even summer yet, but did some pruning in the yard and saved the branches for me to edit down to a day or two's worth of winter production. I'll think of this day full of sunshine, clouds, rain, and wind when I use these packages of oak leaves sometime in the winter of 2027.
