Announcing Oxbow’s upcoming front gallery show: “Waters Rising” by Marilyn Allen.

This show will be on exhibit between June 4th and June 28th.

Join Allen and the back gallery artists Bobbie Salthouse and Linda Batchelor for the artist reception during Easthampton City Art’s Art walk on Saturday, June 6th from 4pm-7pm.

Allen will also be having a reception on Sunday, June 14th, 2pm-4pm!

Read Allen’s statement: “As a painter and outdoor person, I have explored the past and present in the environment and the human impact on the planet. The paintings in the front gallery are the result of years of observation, focusing on the natural world—our only home.  Geology has a long history and it has informed many of the subjects which I have painted in this  show, from the last ice age to the current melting of glaciers.”

May’s Oxbow Gallery shows came to an end yesterday!

This month featured work by Kathy Ford (.quiltmakers.way) in her front Gallery solo show “Seen and Unseen“. See her beautiful quilts in previous posts!

In the back Gallery was the group show “Tricennium” featuring work by Bonnie Ashmore, Joanna Dunn, David Schell, Cyndy Sperry, and Jason Travers.

This post features pieces of each of the five different artists who had work on display in “Tricennium”. This special show marked 30 years since the artists completed their MFA together at American University.

Thanks to those who could make it. Make sure to follow all of the artists to keep up with their work!

David Schell’s work is currently on display in Oxbow back Gallery until May 24th!

Schell’s recent work is about what’s not there and how the remaining form interact with absence. His paintings investigate the idea that context, shape, color and perception are intimately linked to one another..
