Art Deco. Sound & Vision.
As a small, one-man shop, standing apart isn’t optional—it’s everything.
Twenty-four years ago, Art Deco found its way into my work through a commission for a custom dining set. I had always admired the era—the Chrysler Building lines, the confidence, the rhythm—but it hadn’t yet entered my furniture. At the time, I was deeply rooted in Mission and Shaker variations.
That changed the moment I completed that first Art Deco dining table, chairs, and sideboard.
And I never looked back.
Over the years, while I’ve continued to build across many styles—Shaker, Arts & Crafts, Mid-Century, and original designs—Art Deco has remained a cornerstone of my work.
Then came another passion: music.
As commissions for custom stereo cabinets began to arrive, everything came together.
Art Deco stereo cabinets.
Function for the audiophile. Presence for the room.
That balance—what I often call WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor)—became essential.
And now, this latest presentation takes things one step further.
The furniture you see here is 100% my original work—designed and handcrafted in my Easthampton, Massachusetts studio. The rooms and stereo systems are conceptual, created through advanced computer-generated visualization to help you experience these pieces in a real-world setting.
Not altered. Not imagined furniture.
Just a new way to see what’s already real.

There are many things in the shop that are extremely satisfying especially when everything goes right... Putting gorgeous veneer over a curve. Very rewarding when it comes out of the veneer press glued down perfectly. The photos show the steps along with a similar finished piece. Some loud Marley cranking in the shop adds to the experience.

1983... I can date this photo because I was listening to Talking Heads, Speaking in Tongues new album a lot. "Down in the basement, I could hear the sound of machines". This was the basement of the Now and Then art gallery where we worked in plexi-glass making frames and clocks. I wasn't very handy before I studied furniture making but I did okay in this shop.

Back home and ready to serve.... Lots of big and small changes from the original design. It's all about getting it right.

The renovation is complete... So the piece was completed a couple of months ago and the client received the piece that he had designed using my existing designs to guide him, adding elements of his own. After using the liquor cabinet he realized as much as he loved the piece there were problems when it came to actually mixing drinks and accessing the bottle that were below the drop front lid. So he requested a big change. To remove the drop front lid and turn it into two doors. There was still plenty of room inside the piece to do his work. There were lots of other small things that had to be done to make this all work and look like it was always meant to be like this. The last couple of photos shows how it was.
