Huge thanks, as always, to Ray Roa and all of our friends at Creative Loafing Tampa for lifting up what we're doing over here on 7th and Nebraska.
We are so incredibly excited to welcome Dave Decker to our stage as our next guest storyteller for Salud and Happy Days: Comedy Inspired by Stories about Tampa on Saturday, June 6!
We would be remiss if we didn't also mention that this installment comes at a trying time for our little corner of Tampa. Co-owner Justin Peters (who came up with the Salud concept in the first place and hosts this show, among many others) was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this month. This unexpected journey began in Tampa, and we have to give it up for the incredible neurology team at Tampa General Hospital for acting so swiftly and caring for Justin in those first scary days. You all can have as many free tickets to our comedy shows as you want!
This diagnosis has taken Justin and fellow Commodore owner Kelly Buttermore out of Tampa and up to NYC for the forseeable future, as they, together with Justin's family, prepare for cancer treatment. Our unending gratitude goes out to fellow owner Kevin Michalski, who has stepped up during this time to handle most of our day-to-day operations, and to our teachers and growing community for rallying behind him and all of us.
The best thing you can do for The Commodore right now is to come to shows like this one! Show up this summer, and show your support for live comedy and art and all the things that bring us together and make us human. It's never been more important that you do.
