Although I will soon be ready for my visual and literary art salon (Random Random Intentions, Unstuck), grand opening, continuous improvement will always be one of my foundational and guiding principles.

As I open boxes and unbag items moved over from my first studio, I try things out (1st try on left) here and then set out to improve (photo on right) on efficiency with aesthetics of balance in mind.

Grounds for Gouache (prepping the paper)

Work on a dark surface and add lights
(Kiresquero) the “ground” is made of

50% or darker ground and adding lights.

KNOX Gelatin mixed per box *or use Hyde glues (a 3:1 pure pigment to gelatin. If you want it more dense, reduce the ratio. For more transparent, increase the ratio).

Heat the binder (gelatin + water) to keep them usable. Use a double boiler once the pigment and binder is mixed.

She used Burnt Umber pigment on a 140lb watercolor paper.

To pre stretch the paper saturate it and then tape that wet paper down. Before adding your ground and/or paint.
